Hi there, my partner and i are EXTREMELY KEEN to book the above tour, around jun 2008! However i have a few questions.. before i book!!

Cheers
Alfie-

Question:
1. How much spending money do you think would be neccesary for the 21 day tour- including lunches (an average) and perhaps little souveniers, and drinking- on average how much per day?? In addition which places in europe are good to shop for clothes etc? I have looked at the FAQs but there is no average the suggestions vary so much

2. In regards to spending money- what would you recommend? It seems all the rates for cards- are a RIP OFF! especially travelex i will more than likely be taking a debit card and credit card- however which banks do you guys think offered you the best rates? it seems there is always the conversion fee around 2.5 %

3. Travel Insurance- any recommendations? Roughly i have found that its about 300 per person is it worth it

4. What is the concept tour accomadation- what is it REALLY like
DO you have to bring a sleeping- is it communal bathrooms- i am getting confused, are they are 3 star hotels, hostels or cabins.

5. Any tips/advice from past contiki travellers would be great!!! Especially those who have done the london to athens concept tour.

6. How long are the bus trips do i need to bring panadole??

i think thats about it- i know it seems like heaps guys but really any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

I’m wondering about camera policies at the Moulin Rouge. (I plan to do that excursion this May.)

Some people said that cameras must be checked at the door. Other people said cameras can be brought in but you must not take pictures or the camera will be confiscated.

What is the real policy? I don’t like to check anything that valuable so I would just leave the camera at the hotel or on the bus if necessary.

Hi, i am very new to Contiki (as you can prob tell…!)
Firstly, i am assuming that flights to and from America are not included in the cost of the tour..?
Also, I am a little confused, Im interested in the Best of USA trip and there is a transfer flight in this trip, is the cost of that incl. in the price??
Im sorry if im asking stilly questions lol
Jadie x

Ps: if anyone from England has been on this trip, approx how much did it cost (if you dont mind me asking) overall including flights, spending money etc..?

I’m heading out on the Greek Island Hopping tour and I was wondering if anyone has some good advice on how to make it to the Seaview hotel in Athens from the airport? It seems like there are two trains to take, the first from the airport and then a second down south into Glyfada from changing at the Syntagma station, but that’s as far as I’ve got, assuming that’s even right.

Thanks in advance Smiler

Hi guys,
My friend and I are thinking of going on the Greek island hopping tour next year june/july but are trying to figure out if we can afford it.
NOT including the tour cost and flights…how much actual spending money do you think we would need to basically enjoy ourselves and be comfortable but not be too over the top in spending?
So basically money for meals not included in the tour and extra activities..
Any help would be great
Thank you!!

HI,
I’ve heard that on most of the European tours the “Contiki Cough” spreads and nearly everyone gets sick. Does this happen on the North American tours especially the long ones? Just want to be prepared before I head off in June

I haven’t traveled alone to this scale before. Looking at the Simply Italy Tour for March. Do alot of people go alone on these tours or is it couples and friends that go together?

Hey I’m doing the 32 Day Camping Europe tour in May and I’d really appreciate if someone could give me some advice as to what to pack. Never travelled like this before so I’m a bit clueless as to how much to bring. I guess I’m wondering whether to take a hiking pack or?? And do you leave your stuff in the campsite when looking around each destination?

If someone who’s done one could just let me know what they took with them and how, (and no, I don’t mean how many changes of undies!) that’d be great. (Any extra tips are most welcome!)

Thanks!

Can you take them on in your carry-on luggage? I am totally paranoid about losing my luggage, therefore i want all my essentials wuith my in my carry on luggage.

But because i has a cord, and pointy plug in metal bits, is it allowed on the plane? The last thing i want to do in london is find out my luggage is lost, and then not have a camera battery charger

Hi,
What happens if your luggage is over the weight limit? Do they charge you for the extra-weight? Do you have to reorganize you stuff right there? Do you leave your stuff behind? What happens, what do you do if that happens?
Do they also weight any smaller bags, or backpack that you take, like purses with money, ipod, documents… ?
Thanks in advance.

Hello all. Just did the Golden Fleece from May 31 to June 8th 2007. Was a great experience being first time on a cruise.
My recommendations. If u never done a cruise before. This trip is a good way to do one as its a good rate for the budget and the excursions are really really great.
The ship you go on is kinda smallish but good, has a dining room, all u can eat buffets. A lounge, gym and a few bars. For 100 euros u get all u can drink package. The food on the ship was awesome. The service was good i would say.
For excursions. This is what to expect, if u never done a cruise but u done bus tours. The time u get on each shore is very limited. However u get a taste of everything. U get a lot of time in Istanbul but no free time. Its recommended u do the excursions as u get more time in each destination and best way to see everything. Do think by not doing an excursion your saving yourself some $$$. The Santorini excursion u must do. IF you dont do the excursion and decide to go on your own. U will be last to get off the ship and u will only end up with an hour on Santorini. For the other islands. ITs up to u what u want to see. For Mykonos, do the town then go to paradise beach. For Rhodes. spend some time on Elli beach and do the excursion as well.
Overall this was a great trip. Good way to relax and your already near your cabin and u can sleep and travel if u like. If anyone has more questions about the golden fleece. The name is worldtraveller and u can email me at
rescigno@tbaytel.net or koss78a@hotmail.com

feel free to ask me questions

cheers
