hi there,
just looking at the optionals. i want to raft on the shotover. i do not really want to do the jet boat ride. there is a rafting only option yet that is for the kawarau river. i want to do the shotover river. yet the only options for rafting the shotover are included in the twin and triple challenges. im not wanting to do either jet boat or helicopter flight.
any suggestions? is it worth the twin challenge just for rafting the shotover? or is the kawarau good?

Can anyone tell me if the European Inspiration summer tour (departing May 12, 2008) includes the white water rafting optional?

I’ve heard that the water may be too cold or that this tour may not even include this.

Can any Contiki-ers help me please?

Cheers, Dave.

Hi,

I’m doing Euro Highlights from Jul 30-Aug 12. Arrive in London on July 26th from NZ and was planning on crashing with a mate for 4 nights, then staying at the Royal National the night before the tour. But he is having family dramas Frowner and I don’t want to get in the way!

Sooooo the question is, shall I book in for another 4 nights before my Contiki at Royal National? Hadn’t really budgeted for it so any cheaper but still decent/fun suggestions would be great!

Cheers,
KA

Hopefully this will help to narrow it down-I am a resident of North America, and don’t plan to use my credit cards at all while abroad (the international transaction fees alone are 5%..ouch.)So, aside from the relatively small amounts of cash I am planning to bring in the various currencies I’ll need on my tour…I’m planning on using my debit Visa for all other purchases, extra cash when needed..etc..Can anyone comment on how it is that the conversion rates are ‘better’ once you get overseas? I’m a little confused as to how this actually works…For example..I get approx. $0.53 pounds per US dollar..Would this amount be more if I waited to get to London to actually do the exchange??

Okay, so besides enjoying a good party every now and then (cocktails and whatever else), I only drink water. No soda, tea, coffee, nothing. I am going on the Amsterdam to Barcelona trip this summer and wondering how much money I’m going to have to fork out for bottled water…which, if any of the cities on this tour (Amsterdam, Paris, Lucerne, Chamonix, Nice, and Barcelona) have potable drinking water (as in, from the faucet)? I went to Italy (Florence, Assissi, Rome) in 2000 and Ireland in 2001 (all over Southern Ireland) and the tap water was potable in both places…I wasn’t sure if that would be true of any of the cities on the Amsterdam to Barcelona tour.

Hello, I am trying to plan a trip to Australia the end of May, most likely the beaches and reefs trip, or the coast to whitsundays trip, will the weather be warm in May? What should I pack? I am 19 and will be almost 20 at the time, what is the drinking age? If I end up going alone will I still have fun? Please let me know!! Thank you

Hey guys i’m planning on taking the simply italy trip sometime either in oct/nov of this year or in the spring of 2011, and i’m wondering what people feel the best month to go would be. I dont want to be uncomfertably hot, or cold, nor do i want to go during a month where it’s going to rain for most of the trip. I also want to consider when other people generally take this; i’m wondering if I go during the fall/spring are there going to be very few people my age (22) going due to school or other commitments. I would much rather go with people my age than 30-35’s, no offense Smiler

On another topic i’ve chosen the simply italy trip because while I eventually want to see all of europe, I feel like the trips that cover most of europe in a month would be rushed; seeing something like 12 to 15 countries in about a month wouldn’t allow much time per location. I also feel like a good portion of the time would be spent travelling from one place to another. The simply italy trip spends 2 weeks in one country (well 2, italy and vatican city). I feel like it’s going to be a better way to experience a foreign country. Am I somewhat correct in these assumptions or am I completely off the mark?

Any additional advice that differs from that already posted on these forums concering italy would be much appriciated.

Thanks,
Campbell

If someone decides not to do an excursion listed, what do they do while the others are participating in the excursion?

Or if I decide to do an excursion, will I miss out on something else.

Do I have to choose between one or the other?

I’m going on the Euro Vista on Aug. 18th. I might be meeting up with a friend maybe during the trip either in London, France or Lucerne. Is it possible to skip some of the tour and meet up with her? Has anyone tried meeting up with friends during your tour? Did it work out?
