Hi I am planning on doing the Canada & the Rockies then straight after I am doing the Wild Western in July 2008. I am alittle confused whether to start/finsih the canada tour in Seattle or Vancouver. I have a couple of days apart from both of the tours and unsure what do to as I am spending time either in LA or Seattle/Vancouver. Any suggestions would be a great help.
Cheers ![]()

Does anyone know (that has been on a Contiki trip before) how much I should budget for postcards and stamps? How much does a postcard cost? How much do stamps cost? I leave on Sunday for my Road to Athens tour, and this is the only aspect that my mom and I have not budgeted for…

Hey guys,
I know this question has been asked alot but im going to ask it again but more specific to my tour.
I really want to do the 46day camping trip next yr…. but the money for spending is worrying me. I hear 100 euro a day, but for a 46 day tour this would be about $9000 aud i would need to save just to spend! If I only have a few at night (as im not a big drinker, and mainly have wine or vodka), what would be the appropriate amount i would be able to get away with. Especially because this is a camping tour, and such a long one at that.
I know, it seems abit repetative but im thinking I won’t be able to afford it now (the airfare, and the tour are sweet as… just in the spending money department). All the books i have read on europe say to allow approx 10Euro per day for lunch, then have 5Euro for coffee a day, and make sure you have 1 dinner out in each city about 40euro.
I have read alot on here that we should do all the optionals aswell if we can afford it, but i was wondering too, whether the show in Paris was worth it, or should I book myself in to see the Moulin Rouge instead ?
Another Question… I am no longer a student when i go on the tour, but i am thinking about getting one of those international youth cards through STA travel. It says you save on entry prices to museums etc but doesn’t say which ones. Has anyone ever used one on a contiki and are they worth it? Also… region specific, i have heard alot about cards which offer discounted rates to alot of museums and monuments etc, does anyone know about these? or where i could buy them etc.
Another question…. I’m sorry there is so many, but does anyone know the price of the royal national per night in australian dollars? I have read about a place called easyhotel which is about $60 a night but it might be a fair way away from where we are supposed to meet.
Lastly, I plan to be travelling for 11 – 12 weeks in total. After contiki I will be going to Czech, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Ireland, Wales and Scotland to stay with friends. I am also unsure how much i should budget in these places given that i wont need to pay for accommodation (although i would like to give some money if i can).
And has anyone sent anything home via post whilst they have been on tour?
Ohhh 1 last thing…. Am I able to leave my tour in Belgium on the final day?
I think thats all i can think of for now…. any info would help ALOT!
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me when it says “come face to face with the statue of liberty”, whether this means you actually get a trip over to Ellis island and get to walk around the statue etc, or whether you just “see” it from a far?
I am doing the Best of USA in May and am confused. I understand the difference between see and visit, but the come face to face wording has confused me.
Thanks for your help

Hey People! I´m not a good drinker at all… So, I have a silly question: how does the bill come in Hofbrauhaus?? I mean, it´s an individual bill for each person or only a single bill for the all people in the same table?? Just wondering for my budget… Thanks for any advice…

contiki’s schedule says we will be visiting sagrada familia church, olympic stadium and la rambla that day. would i have time to do a 2hour tour to the CAMP NOU Barcelona stadium after that? doors close at 6:00pm. this tour is not included with contiki and plan to go myself. will the bus wait for me or is there somewhere it will be staying? it is really too bad it is not included on the sightseeing…being the number 1 attraction at Barcelona.

I’m just wondering if anyone knows if Contiki lets you combine various discounts, like the past traveler discount, early booking, refer a friend, etc. Also, if I refer a friend for a tour, can I use the gift card for the tour we will be going on? How exactly does this work?
Also, we will be booking 2 tours together, one after the other. Can I use the past traveler discount for both these tours?

Hey Melbournites and Sydneysiders!
On my way home from uni today, about page 5 or 7 of MX (a trashy free newspaper handed out at train stations) there was an article about finding LOVE on contiki!
It said almost 2000 couples met on contiki and are now married about the 2millionth traveller will be going on their trip soon.
Pretty cool ![]()

Hi
I read in the brochure that there are power points in the coaches so you can charge your phone/camera/ipod while your on the road. is that true? I’ve got an Aus/US adapter and all my chargers are multivoltage.
Thanks Amanda

I would love to go to Egypt but I am worried because I hear there is a local guide and I am not sure they would respect western standards of political correctness…

How do most of you pay for your trip?
a. Work hard & Save Hard
b. Get a loan from the Bank
c. Use Credit Cards
d. Get a loan from a Family Member
e. A combination of the above
Because I want to go on a long europe trip this summer…but i’m not that good at saving, and I don’t get paid much and i’m in school still…so I don’t know if I should get a loan from the bank/or a family memeber,or just try and save. I don’t mind saving, but then I wouldn’t be able to go until a couple of years probably lol. Help me someone ![]()

hi, i know that you do a fair bit of drinking while on contiki but how often would you go to clubs, real nice resturants ect.. iv been told alot to minimise the amount of clothes/shoes you take but im a fashion-aholic & while during the day i just go pretty casual when it comes to going out i love to dress up & wont go out casual, so i know im probably going to end up with to many clothes.
(i just went on a 1 week holiday & didnt wear at least a third of my stuff just to give an indication of my over packing habit)
Aaarg! What am i to do! Lucky iv got till september to try fix this dilemma!
What would be the most amount of shoes any of you girls out there would take??? ![]()

Hi all! I am heading to England, Italy (on Simply Italy tour), Greece and Thailand in May/June this year. I am wondering whether anyone is getting the swine flu vac before they go? I have not thought of it before now as I have had all my vacs for Thailand before. But yes – to get, or not to get, the swine flu vac – what do we think?

Does anyone know if you can buy a sleeping bag at the Contiki basement in London? And if you can, how big are they, and how much do they cost? I’m having a lot of trouble deciding if I should bring one or try and get one in London that I can leave behind at the end of the tour (if it wasn’t too expensive to start with).
