Hi guys,

I’m thinking on taking the Contrast Reef and Rock tour in Feb and was wondering if Contiki brings you back to Cairns when the tour is done or do they leave you there to find your own way back to a major City

If they leave you there does anyone know of any carriers to fly back to a major City

Any information would help.

Thanks

S.

So, I notice that quite a few people who do SCUBA diving or sky diving have their pictures doing such. Is this something that is done with the activity or are people skydiving and SCUBA diving with their own cameras? Because the pictures I’ve seen look very high quality.

How strict is Contiki on the expandable luggage policy? I am going on the Simply Italy tour and have a 29" luggaage that meets the size requirements, but it is expandable?!

I was interested in preferences on when is the best time of year to travel/ best month to travel.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has gone on any tour that starts in Rome. The only one I know for sure that departs in Rome is the Simply Italy tour.

I’m planning on arriving a few days before the tour begins so I can explore the city a bit, but I have no idea where to stay. I want to check out hotels/hostels, and I want to book something fairly close to where the tour leaves from. If anyone has some info on where the Rome (Simply Italy) tour departs from…please share.

Thank you,
Gina

Hi i am going on one of the vietnam trips and i have heard that your not supposed to wear clothes which are too revealing. however in peoples photos and clips on youtube people seem to be fine wearing anything, but is that ok if we visit a temple or something? or should i make sure i have longer more acceptable clothing for things like that? i do plan on taking a warmer set of clothes, but its not like i will want to wear that stuff around all day just to visit a temple, etc.

Does anyone know how to set up private tours of the Vatican and Louvre, so we don’t have to wait on line for hours?

Thanks!

Has anyone done this optional or done so independently? I have seen photos and it looks amazing but am wondering if its worth the $155NZ and a day trip away from Queenstown. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if the European Inspiration summer tour (departing May 12, 2008) includes the white water rafting optional?

I’ve heard that the water may be too cold or that this tour may not even include this.

Can any Contiki-ers help me please?

Cheers, Dave.

hi there,
just looking at the optionals. i want to raft on the shotover. i do not really want to do the jet boat ride. there is a rafting only option yet that is for the kawarau river. i want to do the shotover river. yet the only options for rafting the shotover are included in the twin and triple challenges. im not wanting to do either jet boat or helicopter flight.
any suggestions? is it worth the twin challenge just for rafting the shotover? or is the kawarau good?

Hi,

I’m doing Euro Highlights from Jul 30-Aug 12. Arrive in London on July 26th from NZ and was planning on crashing with a mate for 4 nights, then staying at the Royal National the night before the tour. But he is having family dramas Frowner and I don’t want to get in the way!

Sooooo the question is, shall I book in for another 4 nights before my Contiki at Royal National? Hadn’t really budgeted for it so any cheaper but still decent/fun suggestions would be great!

Cheers,
KA

Hopefully this will help to narrow it down-I am a resident of North America, and don’t plan to use my credit cards at all while abroad (the international transaction fees alone are 5%..ouch.)So, aside from the relatively small amounts of cash I am planning to bring in the various currencies I’ll need on my tour…I’m planning on using my debit Visa for all other purchases, extra cash when needed..etc..Can anyone comment on how it is that the conversion rates are ‘better’ once you get overseas? I’m a little confused as to how this actually works…For example..I get approx. $0.53 pounds per US dollar..Would this amount be more if I waited to get to London to actually do the exchange??

Okay, so besides enjoying a good party every now and then (cocktails and whatever else), I only drink water. No soda, tea, coffee, nothing. I am going on the Amsterdam to Barcelona trip this summer and wondering how much money I’m going to have to fork out for bottled water…which, if any of the cities on this tour (Amsterdam, Paris, Lucerne, Chamonix, Nice, and Barcelona) have potable drinking water (as in, from the faucet)? I went to Italy (Florence, Assissi, Rome) in 2000 and Ireland in 2001 (all over Southern Ireland) and the tap water was potable in both places…I wasn’t sure if that would be true of any of the cities on the Amsterdam to Barcelona tour.
