Hello, I am trying to plan a trip to Australia the end of May, most likely the beaches and reefs trip, or the coast to whitsundays trip, will the weather be warm in May? What should I pack? I am 19 and will be almost 20 at the time, what is the drinking age? If I end up going alone will I still have fun? Please let me know!! Thank you

Hey guys i’m planning on taking the simply italy trip sometime either in oct/nov of this year or in the spring of 2011, and i’m wondering what people feel the best month to go would be. I dont want to be uncomfertably hot, or cold, nor do i want to go during a month where it’s going to rain for most of the trip. I also want to consider when other people generally take this; i’m wondering if I go during the fall/spring are there going to be very few people my age (22) going due to school or other commitments. I would much rather go with people my age than 30-35’s, no offense ![]()
On another topic i’ve chosen the simply italy trip because while I eventually want to see all of europe, I feel like the trips that cover most of europe in a month would be rushed; seeing something like 12 to 15 countries in about a month wouldn’t allow much time per location. I also feel like a good portion of the time would be spent travelling from one place to another. The simply italy trip spends 2 weeks in one country (well 2, italy and vatican city). I feel like it’s going to be a better way to experience a foreign country. Am I somewhat correct in these assumptions or am I completely off the mark?
Any additional advice that differs from that already posted on these forums concering italy would be much appriciated.
Thanks,
Campbell

If someone decides not to do an excursion listed, what do they do while the others are participating in the excursion?
Or if I decide to do an excursion, will I miss out on something else.
Do I have to choose between one or the other?

Can anyone tell me if we are required to bring old clothes and shoes for this activity? Or do they supply gum boots and overalls?

I’m going on the Euro Vista on Aug. 18th. I might be meeting up with a friend maybe during the trip either in London, France or Lucerne. Is it possible to skip some of the tour and meet up with her? Has anyone tried meeting up with friends during your tour? Did it work out?

I’m going on one of the “superior” tours and was wondering what my chances were of finding bed bugs in the hotels we will be staying in…when I went to Italy I stayed in the same type of hotels as Contiki does and didn’t have a problem with them…

Hey Guys,
I’m planning to do a 12-21 days Europr trip but I’ll be going solo. Is there lots of trvellers that go solo and if so, is it easy to make friends on the trip. Oh…..I’m sociable but I’m kinda scare of travelling solo on this trip….please advise

Just wondering if anyone is scheduled for departure on June 22nd or June 28th from Southern U.S. I’m from New Orleans, La and looking for someone that might have the same flight to London. Don’t really want to have to take the train and taxi alone. You can email me at hatylo9@lsu.edu Thanks! ![]()

Hey,
My partner and I are looking to do European Vista (winter) in Jan 2011, and we are just starting to buy all the bits and pieces we’ll need.
We’re currently trying to make decisions about day/overnight bags…
A few questions:
1. As a couple, how would we go sharing a day bag? In a normal situation at home, we would share, which makes us think we would be fine sharing.
2. How risky is it having a backpack as our day bag, security wise? Should we lock the main compartment? Or how about even locking it and then also using a rain cover over the top for an extra shield (plus protection against rain/snow obviously)…
3. What did YOU use for a day bag? How many litres capacity?
Thanks ![]()

I mainly want to see LA, the theme parks, studio/hollywood tours, shop and bars/clubs.
In LV i want to see the Casinos and bars/clubs, maybe even visit Area 51/Groom Lake.
Should i take a contiki tour, or should i get my own accomodation and sight-see myself? Maybe rent a car?
Im thinking about this money wise, it’s just that the contiki tours that are worth going on, dont stay in each state long enough. I would love to do one of the tours that stops across a bunch of states, but i really want to see LA/LV the most.
Would paying for my own accomodation/plus sight seeing myself end up costing more than a contiki tour?
Or is it maybe an idea to go for 2/3 weeks and do a contiki tour, and spend a whole week to myself sight seeing?
Any advice and help appreciated.

I’m still debating on what to do for money.
The ATM card seems the best bet so far. My bank said they charge
$1.50 for ATM fees outside the US +the current exchange rate for that day. My only concern is the ATM fees in Europe.
What do they charge for using them? Also, do merchants take Mastercard Debit Cards and if they do, do they charge fees?
Thanks.

I’m thinking of staying in Athens the weekend before my trip, a nice 3 days of just sinking in that I finally made it to Greece, you know?
Anybody has advice on good but not too expensive hotels? I looked online but it’s really hard to figure out which area is safe or not…..

Hey guys!
My partner and I are planning for a Winter Vista next season. The main thing concerning us with winter travel is the possibility of getting stuck somewhere in the snow and missing out on places due to road closures etc. Does this happen much? Coming from New Zealand I know how much the weather can disrupt even the best laid plans.. Are the roads pretty good over there and kept open during the snowy weather?
Cheers
Ben
