Hey all!
I’m American and have done 3 previous Contikis in Europe, and this year I’m planning on maybe doing the Grand Northern. (I’m from the SW, so a northern USA road trip sounds awesome for this summer…)
Anyway, I was wondering if the majority of people who do North American tours are Aussies? To be clear, I really love Australians (and Kiwis, and South Africans!) and I was hoping to travel with people from there rather than with fellow Americans. Just curious! Thanks everyone.

hi,
Im heading OS for 4 months to the US and all over europe and was just after any companies that have done you good on travel insurance. ive been to the US bf and undertsnad about the level of travel insurance required. Its just that STA are quoting $900 (inc 20% discount) and medibank private are quoting $500 (10% members discount). i dont need skiing and adventure sports cover just full comprehensive.

Has anyone traveled worldwide for a similar time and has a good company that didnt cost the earth?? (I dont want to skimp of course but dont want to pay an astronomical amount either.)
Thanks,

Hi Guys…

Trying to decide which Australia Contiki trip to do in a month or so. A couple of questions:

Would people recommend to do Reverse or not? What would you say is the real difference – pros and cons?

In terms of ages, I read somewhere else that the longer, more expensive, tours are dominated with the older end of the 18-35 bracket… did you find this was the case?
As I’m only 19, would you advise taking one of the shorter trips?

Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated as I really need to get booking!!

I am going on the Canada & Rockies tour in 3 weeks. Does anyone know what the weather is in Canada this time of year? I’ve tried to get info online, but it’s very general (anywhere from 36 F to 71 F depending where you’re going). Should I pack mostly for warmer or colder weather? I’d do layers, but I don’t want to overpack. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Hello All!

I’ve looked into getting an adapter/converter for my hair dryer for Australia…and they are pricey! So basically I’m just going to pick up a cheap hair dryer when I get to Sydney…can anyone reccommend a place to pick one up? Thanks,

Maigan

Hi, I fancy going on a Contiki Tour, I like the sound of the Wild Western Tour, but I am 35 years old. What is the general age, will I be too old?

If anyone is interested I purchased and used this Pacsafe StuffSafe 80 for my one month of traveling in Europe. This is large enough to fit a good sized backpack. I purchased it so I could lock my laptop, camera, money, and passport away at the hotel each night.

I received the hotel list a few weeks in advance and looked up on tripadvisor the reviews to the hotels and a few hotels in Italy and France had some reviews that listed someone breaking into their room as well as some people on the boards here talking about some break-ins. I’m sure they are not very common but I wanted peace of mind on my trip. This bag worked out great! You just stuff your backpack in the bag and lock it. The material holding the bag is suppose to be slashproof. I just anchored it to the sink each night. It comes with a special case that you roll it into when you are not using it, takes up very little space and only adds 2 lbs. Let me know if you are interested.

I am looking for $60 usd plus shipping.

Hey Guys

Just wondering what has happened to the Mykonos resort. The Ultimate Euro no longer goes there which is dissapointing because it looks like it would be alot of fun and I also havent seen it advertised in the new brochure.

Has it closed down? or whats the deal?
I’m sure some others must be thinking the same thing.

Also Ultimate Euro no longer goes to Romania or Black Sea…wonder why?

I’ve been changing around my mind a bit, but think I’ve finally made my decision for next years contikis. Gonna do LA Explorer, then Wild Western. After Wild Western, there’s about a week before Grand Southern starts. After Grand Southern, I’ll have about a week and a half before I have to be home.

I’m really interested in just catching the Amtrak train around the country a bit. I definitely want to go to Seattle, and although can’t travel through the north, thought I might catch the train all throughout so I can still see lots of the country.

I was wondering how long is recommended staying in LA before Grand Southern, taking in to account I’ll be doing both LA Explorer and Wild Western. Would only 1 extra day for Disneyland be enough?

And how much longer should I stay in New York to see everything before I head back down to LA for my flight home?

Just looking for rough ideas. What a long post! Haha.

Thanks in advance

I’m going to be going on the Egypt & The Nile Tour on the 18th and I was just looking up some legal things. I read that you must have proof of vaccinations otherwise you might not be allowed to enter the country.

Have any of you had to prove this? Or had any problems?

Is it really that freaky and hard to work out? We are thinking it looks like the easiest way to get round and I found their website which is fantastic – you put in where you are starting and where you want to go and it tells you how to get there! What are everyones experiences of the subway like?
