Hey all,
I just received this email from my cousin who is a travel agent. So for all you people out there that are wanting to travel contiki, perhaps its a good idea to book prior to 1st OCtober, 2008. see below:-
Due to devaluation of the AUD, unfortunately it has become necessary for us to increase our prices in our 2009 USA and Canada programs by 10%, effective the 1st of October, 2008.

Bookings deposited in advance of this date, however, will take advantage of current prices so we encourage you to contact those clients that you feel want to travel to Canada and the US to give them the opportunity to book prior to this date.

We value your business and thank you for your continued great partnership and support.

Yours sincerely,

Trafalgar Tours, Insight Vacations and Contiki

My friends and I were discussing simply buying prepaid phones once we get to Europe instead of bringing our own. We don’t plan on calling each other that much, it’s more of a ‘just in case’ kinda thing.

Anyone done this before? Any positives or negatives of which I’m unaware?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hi Guys I have decided to plan for the Beaches and Reefs tour on 17th September 2011, starting from Cairns and finishing in Sydney.

This is my first tour with the contiki tour company so any advice, tips would be great. I will be travelling solo but would be great to meet up with some new people along the way.

My email is robsonanthony@hotmail.com so feel free to email me at anytime.

regards,
anthony.

Ok, the one city that appears we REALLY don’t have enough time in is Venice.

The Glass Blowing demonstration is included in the tour, but frankly, I don’t give a rat’s behind about glass blowing.

Can we skip this, but still do the Gondola ride excursion?

Is the glass blowing IN Venice, or is it on an island outside of Venice?

Also, I guess that leads me to ask, do we have to do the Gondola ride all at the same time, or can you just go and do it at a time that works better for us?

I really want to go to Piazza San Marco while the sun is still out, but it seems like we don’t get into Venice until 130pm-ish, and that doesn’t leave a lot of time for anything, considering we leave Venice early the next morning.

Hey gals, I know this is a really stupid question, and it pains me a little to write it…I am from a very tropical climate and and flying into the middle of a european winter (european encounter 22nd jan), and I have heard that in the colder climates, you really have to wear waterproof mascara, because it gets really cold when you’re outside, then you walk into heating and your mascara melts and runs (if its not waterproof). I wear non-waterproof, and a friend told me this, and now I am slightly worried. As I said, this is a really stupid question, but one of the many things on my mind. My other question is sleepwear – how warm does it need to be? We are doing a hotel tour, then travelling on afterwards, probly in backpacker-type accom. – will heating mean we don’t need really warm, flanelette p.j.s? Or should I take warm jammies?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Everyone!
I’m thinking of travelling in May/June 2009 and so I’m saving madly but because I will be travelling alone by the looks of the contiki website I will have to have a single room and pay twice as much as what is mentioned.
I was wondering if anyone knows whether Contiki lets you share a room with other travellers who are travelling alone? Would they help organise something like that? I just think it would make everything cheaper for the single travellers…
or am I being wishful?
Even if just for the 24 week trip to be able to share with another person would be helpful and cheaper.

(I’m thinking of doing the New York Tour, Grand Northern and LA Scene tour)

Thanks !

I want to book the London/Paris/Rome trip for next June, but the website only has bookings up until March of 2007. I’d like to pay early and receive the early payment bonus. I was wondering when they will post the June 2007 trips, do you think? I’d hate to think you can’t book until March of next year.

Also, if anyone else is interested in doing this tour, please let me know. I’m going alone and would love to buddy up with someone if possible. My email is leanneland at hotmail dot com.

I am considering doing the European Inspiration tour: August 28 – September 15, 2010. I am choosing a tour beacause it would be my first trip to Europe.

My question is: I am 34, and I am just wondering if anyone has done this tour or similar tours. I want to know if i would be considered the old fart on tour considering I will be almost 35 by the time i take the Tour, and considering contiki 18 – 35 is the age limits, i would be almost at the threshold. I am interested in seeing the sights and having a good time. I am not concerened about the drinking all night and partying, as i am lead to belive contiki is good for this. Just didnt want to do a tour and be considered to old to mix it with the young whiper snappers, so to speak…

Any advice would be great.

hey everyone hoping for a little advice on what sort of bag is best to carry on a daily basis in vietnam? as in which is the safest or most convenient

im thinking a backpack may be a little riskier than the others because they seem easier for someone to get into without you noticing …

what did others use?

Thanks
Amy

Just wanted to get some feedback on the Grand Explorer trip. We want to go in June, but how is the weather? The trip has lots of things to do in the water, but won’t it be too cold for that? Do you think it is worth it to go in June? (both of us don’t ski). Any feedback would be great! Thanks!
