I am doing the Grand Explorer tour ending in Christchurch and want to spend some time in dunedin and maybe some other interesting places around there? I’m also thinking of perhaps going up to Nelson/Greymouth area as the Contiki tour doesn’t go there …. any suggestions on the length of time I should spend in NZ after the tour is completed? I originally planned for 2 weeks but aren’t sure if it is too long of a time. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Friends, i am planning on talking European Inspiration trip. I’m a US green card holder, which means i require a UK and Schengen visa for this trip. Since after UK the first country we will be entering through ferry is France. Does this mean i need to get my schengen visa from French Consulate. Does the first stop in France, Calais, has a passport office?
I would greatly appreciate your response.

I just came back from doing a tour on my own in Melbourne. My advice is take a VERY warm jumper/jacket if you are doing the Penguin Tour or Great ocean road.
I only took a light jumper down and had to get a blanket/shawl at the penguins and got to apollo bay and HAD to get a fleecy jumper which I wont wear again for ages lol. Great ocean road was raining the whole time and the wind was like near cyclonic conditions. Dont take an umbrella with you coz its only just going to be turned inside out over and over again.

Are electrical sockets the same in England as in the rest of Europe or will I need to buy a different type of adapter for England specifically?
Thanks!

Hi, i’m doing the Grand Southern Tour next April with a friend. After the end of the tour we’re going to use the Greyhound buses for approx. 60 days to explore the northern states from New York to Las Vegas. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for using the Greyhounds and also, how easy will it be to get reasonable/budget accommodation in each stop without booking in advance? Any advice would be really appreciated! ![]()

Watch out everyone – there is a big difference in the Contiki brochures between “Visit” & “See”.
“Visit” means you actually go in – “See” means a quick drive-by.
Don’t get burned.
We had a fabulous trip nonetheless…but Contiki really should be clearer in their wording.

Just posted this in the trip review forum by mistake, thought it might be better posting it here!
Hi everyone,
I was interested in doing the ski tour of New Zealand this year (have never done a contiki before) and was wondering if anyone could answer some questions for me?
1. How far in advance do you need to book the tours?
2. Do you book and pay for the optional extras on the tour or beforehand?
3. Did anyone go on the Cleo/Ralph ski tour last year and what was it like?
4. I’ve got my own gear, should I take it with me or would it be safer/easier to hire over there?
5. If I stay a night before or after any recommendation on where to stay? ( the tour starts/ends in Christchurch)
6. Are there any other expenses that I’ll need to pay for that aren’t on the itinerary?
Ummm thats all I can think of right now, but might post again with more questions!
Thanks for any help, Stef Smiler

I have heard really terrible things about both the Imperial and Royal National Hotels..
Can anyone suggest any alternatives to these hotels? (Just to stay a night or two before my tour departs from the Royal National? So withing the same area…)
The last thing i want is a dirty room/to be robbed/scammed etc before leaving for my tour.
Thanks for the help!

For the people who have been on European Inspiration tour or people who have heard reviews about it, I would just like to know your experience of this tour if the tour reflected the price.
I am planning on doing this tour in late September and im willing to hear reviews about this tour.
After my tour i am planning on taking the London Package and would like to know if it was worth it?
Has anyone done this. Did you think it was good value.
Thanks guys!!

I’m doing two tours, Greek Island Hopping May 24-6 and then Reverse Med. Highlights June 10-23. I have 4 days in between to get from Athens to Rome. I looked into flights, they start at around $135…which seems reasonable but then apparently Italy charches a air tax of $285. So the one hour flight is over 400 dollars. Do I have any other options for getting from one place to the other?

Hey Guys
Just wondering if anyones done the Greek Island hopping tour recently…I did it last year and loved it and doing it again this year and am wondering if the athens hotel is the same. Last year we stayed at Hotel Plaka.
Just trying to organise flights etc so any help on this would be great.
Cheers!
