What time of the year do most Americans/Canadians travel?

Hello,
My boyfriend and I are looking into doing the “European Horizon” package in July, and were hoping for some useful information. This would be our first time ever visiting Europe… so obviously we have no idea what to expect. To anyone who has already been… or gone on this trip, could we please have your advice
- Exactly how light do you have to pack? Are we able to bring dress clothes, along with track pants, etc?
- Do we carry our luggage with us everywhere… or does it stay at the hostel/hotel?
- What’s the scoop with hairblowers, hair straighteners?
- The trip starts in London… I would assume we have to buy our place tickets separately?
- Is it very expensive if so
- How long does it take to fly there from Toronto, Canada??
- Does it rain much?
Any vital information would be much appreciated. Thank you kindly!!!!

Hi There – my name is Connie ….I’m planning to do the B&R tour in Oct.
I’m trying to figure out which city to start the tour from……looking for any comments/advice ![]()
I have read on these message boards in both favour…..
Start in Cairns…and then by the time you reach Sydney you have new friends to tour Sydney with.
Start in Sydney where everyone is a newbie on day one vs. Cairns – I assume a tour is in progress by the time it stops in Cairns and then new people are picked up there?
Decisions Decisons
Cheers,
Connie

hey guys.
im doing a concept tour and need to take a sleeping bag. my sleeping bag is fairly small, ive tried it in my suitcase rolled up and ive also tried folding it down and putting it at the bottome of my suitcase.
it seems such a drama, how have other people taken their sleeping bags on the plane?
its easy enough on the tour because the sleeping bag can be seperate from your suitcase, as i understand…but how have people taken their sleeping bags on the plane?

I’m confused…
For the first full day in Athens on the Greek Island tour, is there a group tour of the city included or do you have that day to just do your own thing? If so, what places do you go to on that tour?

just wondering if there is anyway of getting photo’s while on the rafting optional extra? do you think it is worth buying a disposable water proof camera to take along? obviously it would have to be tied onto the life jacket or somewhere.
or does the tour leader take photo’s that can be purchased at the end of the expedition?
it just sounds like an unreal scenic experience that really needs to be captured.

I thought I had decided on my tour but some things in that brochure just look too good! I’ve been thinking about some other options… and I’m just trying to price everything out. I know there are a million spending money threads but I’m looking for something specific.
I’m thinking about doing the Golden Fleece Cruise in combination with another tour (either superior or budget), but I have no idea how much extra should be budgeted for the cruise. Pretty much all the meals are included and there’s a gratuities fee. I realize that not ALL the additional cash is for food while on tour, but I’d imagine that a bulk of it is. Especially on that tour where I’d be there more for the experience and scenery than the shopping (like in Italy or France). And I was also thinking that there would be a lot less partying/drinking.
Any thoughts? Or firsthand experience?
Thanks!

I’m sorry but i know i’ve made many posts before regarding travelling Europe for the first time. My friend and I have made up our decision to do the contiki European Whirl tour rather than doing it on our own. We thought that since it is only a 3 week trip, it’s best to do a tour so everything would be organized and we wouldn’t waste so much time finding places by doing it ourselves.
Anyone who has done this tour, or something similar – any advice would be great. Again this is my first time travelling to Europe. We want to do lots of partying at night time – are tours very strict on what we do at night time? Because we also want to explore some stuff on our own also and not always have to follow the tour around.
I also heard that with tours, the accomodation is usually located in the suburbs – therefore, find transportation to the cities where the clubs are at may be expensive. Any suggestions on that? Because we would love to do alot of partying in Europe.
We are not much for designer shopping sprees either, but about how much money should we budget per day? And how much clothes to bring?
Sorry so many questions. Any helpful advice would be great!
You can also email me at tammy-phan@hotmail.com if you have any advice and suggestions for a first time europe traveller! =)

hey everyone,
I am going to be in London for 3 nights before I start the Road to athens tour on May 8. I will be on my own and have decided to just stay at the Imperial hotel but I’m not doing the ‘check out london’ tour as I thought it would save me some money before I start the RTA. so I was wondering,
where is the best place to meet other contikiers pre-tour?
What is the best way to see London? do contiki organise any sight-seeing trips that I can find out about at The Basement?
Where are the good, cheap places to get breakfast and dinner?
I was planning on doing one day shopping one day sight-seeing but would love some feedback on this. If anyone will be there at this time it would be great to catch up, especially if you are on my tour!!
