Hey everyone,

I was hoping someone could help me! I’m going on the Winter Wanderer departing December 21st and I just got my documents yesterday.
Browsing through the hotel lists, in lucerne it says we are stayng at a hotel at the bottom of the mountain, not the one at the top! The name of the hotel on the list is: Mothotel Pilatusblic
Does anyone know anything about this? I’m just curious so I don’t have to pack an overnight bag lol!

Some other helpful hints:

When on plane it is important to get up and walk around periodically to avoid developing deep vein thrombosis (or however it’s spelled)
Also, drink plenty of fluids which can lessen effects of jet lag.

Bring disposable camera (s). You never know when your camera could stop working and there’s nothing worse than not being able to take photos.

Put some sort of marking such as a ribbon on your suitcase to make it stand out. It’s always difficult to pick out your luggage off the baggage carousel so may as well make it somewhat easier.

Bring nice clothing for going out at night. the kind you’d wear to going to a club or nice restaurant.

Hope that helps. I’ve got even more and some useful websites too.

I am thinking about doing the “Best of Europe” trip next year and am trying to budget for it. Has anyone gone to Paris w/ Contiki and gone to the Moulin Rouge? It sounds cool but for almost $200 USD I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth the money…..

Moulin Rouge: Worth it? Or tourist trap?

Thanks!

I know they say tours start at 7 AM (e.g. mine is the Wild Western). I’m not staying at the hotel the night before because I have family down near LA, so I have to get to the Best Western Stovalls Inn to catch the tour? And when they say start date is 7 AM this means when the bus leaves, so I probably should aim to be at the hotel lobby by about 6:30 AM? Just curious, thanks!

Hey everyone i’ve just got a general question about time. specifically the travel time between London and Versailles.

ok so heres how it is, ive got a spare day in London and i was wondering how long it would take to get to Versailles for a day trip. I’d so love to go there but it really depends on how long it would take.

I was thinking of taking the underground train to where ever it goes then catching another train to Versailles.

Is there and easier way?

any feed back will be appreciated Smiler

Hi there!

I’m a Kiwi and lived in Auckland most of my life but recently moved to Christchurch. Have never been to Queenstown or most of the other areas covered by the Scenic Southern and was thinking of checking out my own country before heading to others next year Smiler Specifically over New Years, woo hoo!!
But I’m curious to know if many or any Kiwis go on a NZ Contiki tour themselves?

Look forward to hear anything back, Cheers, Sarah

I will be touring in Europe this summer and I was wondering if anyone can say anything about potential discrimination against people who might be mistaken for “terrorists” and similar.

My cousin who was living in the UK actually left the country because he couldn’t stand the discrimination any longer. Even city busses would not stop for him and he could not enter a pub without it immediately falling silent. Though he really looks like a stereotypical “terrorist.”

So I am kind of worried because I have brown skin and my family has definitely had bad experiences because of that with the US border people. Though I shaved my facial hair so I look a lot less “terrorist-like” now, and I don’t wear a turban.

Is it that bad in Europe? Has anyone seen/experienced problems or discrimination because the person looks like they might be a “terrorist”?

Hey I’m doing Canada & the Rockies in early May. I’ve got three weeks between the end of that and when I start working at Panorama Mountain Resort. I was just wondering what have you done after the tour ended? Or what are you planning to do? I’m thinking about using Greyhound bus services to get around – anyone used them? Or youth hostels?

Thanks,
Zokas

Hi all,

Doing to the Euro Explorer starting 16th August. Just wanted to know of any stories from people who have travelled alone. Is it daunting? I’m a little bit nervous not knowing anybody (yet don’t mind meeting new people). Does everybody generally get along? Are there any bad eggs on tour?

Also, I’ve heard rumours that all people do is get smashed on these tours. Is this true? I don’t mind having a good time, but I hope to not head out with people who are more interested in drinking themselves stupid rather than see the sites. Any feedback would be great.

Hi everyone,
I am looking at doing the 46 days camping next year the dates don’t come out till October so not exactly sure when yet but was looking at around May. Can anyone please give me any info on what the trip was like for them and if they would do it again. I am traveling by myself and am 21 but will be 22 when I leave. I am from Sydney but not really a prissy girl. I have camped before as a kid and enjoyed it. Really any information would be fantastic. I am going camping because I want to make my money stretch as far as possible and the 46 days seemed like a great introduction to Europe and went to many fantastic places.
Cheers Lizzie
