Hey, I was wondering for anyone who has gone around Europe (or is going), is there any reason to take a laptop? someone suggested that I take one, but I think it would just take up space and be one more thing that someone could steal. Is there a good reason to take one?

I am trying to decide on takeing either the European Discovery or the Best of Europe (start in Paris) around the end of this September.
I havnt seen any reviews on the Best of Europe trips and I was wondering if anyone knows the pros/cons of this vs. the european discovery?
Also, I would be flying from US to London, there are many different airlines to choose from, anyone from US have good/bad experiences with airlines and can recommend one/some for me? I’ll be starting out of los angeles, ca.
(i.e. us airways, delta, nwi, american airlines, etc)
Thank you in advance, I need to start planning asap!

Hey everyone, I’ve travelled with Contiki and would like to offer some advice:
If you plan on taking a credit card to Europe, you may want to call your credit card company to let them know you’ll be travelling so they don’t think the card has been stolen and cut you off.
Another thing I recommend is carrying your cash in a money belt, I find it safer.
Plan on spending $100-$150 USD per day. You’ll have to buy lunches daily, souveneirs, some dinners and going out at night. You should try exchanging money before you leave. You’ll have to chance to do so on the tour, but easier to get that part out of the way and have one less thing to worry about.
When you pack, throw some clothing into your carry-on to lighten the weight of the suitcase and in case your luggage gets lost. Leave room for souveneirs & carry with you an extra copy of your pasport and hotel address list.
In terms of weight of luggage, it’s the airlines that are more strict than Contiki. Each airline has their own weight threshold & will only be too glad to charge you extra for going over. You can find out the limit/rules by going on the airline’s website.
Feel free to ask me anything else.

Hi All was wanting some advice on missing the pre departure meeting and heading off to Amsterdam on my own for an extra night there…
Questions…
1. Will i miss out on “bonding” with the group if I don’t go to the pre departure meeting and go over to Amsterdam with the tour? I don’t want to feel awkward
2. How do I go over to Amsterdam? Will i be able to pick my ferry ride ticket up from Contiki or will i have to pay for another ticket to go over?
3. What hotels do they normally stay in, in Amsterdam Id hopefully like to book into the same one so I don’t have to pack up and move again…
Thanks!

Hi Ladies,
So I’ve never been to Europe, and my European Magic tour leaves in two days. I heard if I wear shorts that I’ll look “too touristy”. Should I plan on wearing skirts & capris (my preference anyhow) with flip flops? Help! ![]()

Hey, I’m considering going on one of the European tours this coming summer, and would be going with at least one friend of mine. He’s a gay man, and I’m wondering what experiences could be expected. Are there many gay travelers with contiki? Any good or bad experiences regarding homosexuality?

I know there are probably heaps of these types of questions if I looked more… but I’m starting to get worried about the following:
* Pick pocketers/Having personal items stolen.
* Food (I’m very health conscious and picky) plus I’ve heard food poisoning isn’t uncommon.
* Prague in general. I’ve heard it is a beautiful place, but I keep reading bad things about food and safety!
Appreciate if anyone can put my mind at ease! Oh, I’m doing the European Inspiration by the way in September.

Hi Guys,
just need some quick advice, whether or not to go on the Big Apple Explorer..
I am doing a summer camp in America in June and once that is finished I am going to do the European Escapade in early to mid september. Just want to explore New York for a few days in between and would like to get some people’s opinions on it that have been. I am just trying to decide if I do it on my own for a few days or jump on the contiki?? Any advice is appreciated thanks

Hi All,
Im looking at booking the European Insperation for early April 08’, and wanted to check this out befor heading to the travel agent.
When I look in the Dates & Rates for next year, they only go to March 17. Does this mean that it is still too early to book for April tours?
Thanks!
