Just a quick Q:

What kind of jumper/sweater/jacket/cardigan do you need for europe adventurer june-july, also for great britain?

Is a cardi enough?
Or are night times colder there?
(will have to suit day time and going out so as to not pack too much!)

Does anyone recommend what power adapters/converters/plugs to bring? Is there a more generic or universal one that can be used in multiple places? Since we’ll be in so many different countries, gotta minimize the travel load! Wink
Thanks!

One of my friends suggested it might be a good idea to take my phone over there, and buy a sim card in London and use that instead of the ekit sim card or getting roaming on my network.

I’d like to be able to send messages home, maybe make a couple of calls, but the idea of paying for incoming calls doesn’t appeal to me much!

Has any one heard of this and is it a good idea?

Hey, is it better to take a microfibre towel, or a normal one?

I’m on tour in July- would it be warm enough for a normal towel to dry overnight? I read somewhere that the microfibre towels start to smell after a while :S

Hey,

My partner and I are planning on doing the European Vista in early 2011 and we have just started to buy warm winter stuff in the end of season sales here at home (Australia)…

The main thing we are stuck on is shoes! Can anyone show me specific examples of what shoes they used for a similar tour in winter? Would normal casual shoes be okay, or would we be better off with super sturdy hiking boots that are waterproof?

Just how much snow would be encountered on this tour?

Any advice on shoes please!! And anything else, really Smiler

Thanks

I am after thoughts of people that have completed tours in Europe.

The 45 day tours … do you get enough time in each destination? Is it too much/you forget everything you did before you get home?

Am I better off stringing together a few country specific tours so I can spend more time in specific places?

I have never been to Europe before so any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks

Hi, I am doing to Grand Explorer tour starting in Auckland and ending in Christchurch (July 29-Aug. 12) and want to spend 2 weeks or so travelling south down the coast to such places as Dunedin after the tour ends. Does anyone have any advice as to the best way to do this (ie. a bus company, etc), or any tips at all? Thanks!

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone had any trouble using a Canadian debit card at the ATMs in Europe?? I’m with CIBC and they said it “should work” but I’d feel better hearing it from someone who used one!

Hi Everyone!

I’m booked for the European Explorer departing May 23/08 and the Egypt tour departing Jun 27/08. These will be my first contiki tours and my first time overseas (and first time travelling alone!) Just wondering if anyone can help me out with what optional excursions I absolutely can’t miss and which ones I could probably do without. Here’s the list!

Barcelona – Tablao de Carmen (Euro 54.00)
Monaco – Monaco Restaurant (Euro 32.00)

– Tuscan Meal (Euro 38.00)
Rome – Guided Imperial Tour (Euro 12.00 (10-19
people)/ Euro 11.00 (20+ people))
Sorrento – Restaurant Meal (Euro 34.00)
Pompeii – Guided Tour of Ancient Pompeii (Euro
18.00 (19-34 people)/ Euro 17.00 (35+
people))
Athens – Athens Plaka Meal (Euro 33.00)
Dubrovnik – Dubrovnik Cruise (Euro 20.00)
Vienna – Old Vienna Schnaps Museum (Euro 6.00)

Amsterdam – Volendam Restaurant (Euro 31.00)
– Canal Cruise (Euro 27.50)

Egypt
Cairo – Group Photo (US $11.00)

Aswan – Ramses II at Abu Simbel (US$201)
Luxor – Hot Air Balloon Ride (US$150.00)
– Camel Ride (US$15.00)

Also, about the optional dinners, they seem a little on the expensive side…does anyone know what the percentage is for people attending the dinners? Are there a lot of other places to eat where we’ll be staying?

I’d really appreciate any advice!

Thanks!
Grace

I’m planning on going on the European Magic alone, and figured it would be a good idea to have a triple share room, this way I can buddy up with people…but I read in one thread that they usually only give you one key for three people? Is this true
