14 nights accommodation – 1 night in a Contiki Special Stopover, 8 nights in Contiki Villages, 4 nights in hotels

What are these code words? I do not understand.

This will be for my girlfriend and I.

Do we get showers? How many people share rooms?

Should we go less days Frowner on a superior trip for privacy?

I’m looking to do the Reefs and Rainforest tour, from Cairns to Sydney. I was thinking of Sept, Oct or Nov 2010. I’d like to know from people who live there, have been to Oz before and those that have even done this tour what your thoughts are. As i’m from the UK i’m not used to the hot weather and have heard that this may be a good time to go as it’s not too hot and not too wet, I’ve also heard that June or July would be good! I would appreciate any advice!

hi,
Myself and 2 mates from sunny Australia are planning on doing a Europe trip under 20 days duration around april/may 2007. Does anyone have any advice on which trips offer the best time?

  • European Encounter is looking good at the moment but not sure.

  • Also, do people recommend “time out” or “concept” tours.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all. I’m hoping you guys have advice on whether it is a good idea to rent mopeds in Santorini. My sister and I were thinking that this would be a fun way to explore the island. But I also hear that the roads are narrow and winding. So do you guys think its a good idea and manageable for some young women in their 20’s who have never ridden a moped before to rent them in Santorini?? Thanks…

How much of each language do you think it pays to know before going?
If staying in a country for only 1 day is worth learning any of that language at all?

Does anyone have some good links to tutorials or easy to follow simple phrase guides and the like for French and Italian for example?

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi,
Just reading the Contiki book and it refers to a big 2kg steak at the Big Texas Inn, Amarillo. If you eat it in under an hour you get it free. Has anyone tried it and succeeded?

    Hello to all,
I am just wondering what peoples thoughts are on revisiting cities in europe after only a short period of time ? Is this an odd thing to do, could it be regret once you have seen it twice ? Would love to hear from ppeople to have revisted some places.

I am thinking of travelling the GN in peak season which I have heard is a good idea because tours are more likely to be filled up in peak season.

But then I have read it’s better to go West to East because more Australians go from East to West which causes a tour to be cancelled. (Personally I wouldn’t care who I was travelling with as long as I see the sights and us Aussies are good fun to be with!).

I have heard that the Grand Southern goes both ways…LA – NY and NY – LA. Does the Grand Northern do the same? I just would love to see northern usa and canada…that would be my dream!.. and if my NY – LA was cancelled, I could do the same trip but West to East and just reverse all my travel plans.

I am just really worried about if the Grand Northern (NY – LA) were cancelled…what would I do?

If anyone can let me know whether the GN goes both ways that would be great! and also if June/July would be a good season to do NY – LA? Has anyone done this trip before and found it quite busy at this time of year?

Have many people experienced having their GN cancelled on them?

Thanks for your help everyone! Smiler

    hello there !
i am booked on the european vista leaving late may 2008. i have read through all the forums (very informative!!) but cant seem to find a detailed answer.
i have read my brochures and books (thanks lonely planet) and have my shortlist of the places that i want to see on the tour.
the cities i really dont want to miss out too much are rome, paris and amsterdam (need to see dutch relatives there). therefore i want to cram as much as i can into the free days.
so… how can i find out in advance the detailed itinerarys in these cities?
for example, the info for paris states that we “see”…. the eiffel tower, arc de triomphe, louvre, champs elysees and notre dame. i assume this is just a drive by, photo stop and orientation to the city? or do any of these places we actually get to visit and look inside?
it would be good to have an idea in advance of what is included on the organised part of the tour, so i know what to organise for the free days. i know they will be busy ones, but worth it if i get to see as much as i can….
    thanks in advance everyone!

Does anyone know what kind of breakfast is provided on the European tours (specifically Road to Athens)?

OK so I picked up my Contiki pack from my travel agent today, and upon looking a little closer noticed there’s a few discrepancies between the itinerary and the hotels list.

For example, the hotels list states that we’ll be at Chateau de Cruix for 3 nights, the itinerary says 2. The hotels list says 2 nights in Corfu, when we’re there for 3 according to the itinerary.

Where it gets really confusing is the Egypt leg of the tour (I’m doing Ultimate European + Egypt)… only 5 nights are listed for Egypt, with the first night there being on the overnight train, yet the itinerary states that we spend a night in Cairo first, with the overnight train the next night.

Now my gut instinct is that the itinerary is correct, because that’s also what appears on the website… but clarification would be nice, if anybody knows?
