I’m trying to figure out if I should take a big suitcase or a large backpacker style backpack. I’ll be in Australia a month and taking the Coast to Whitsundays tour.
Is it common for people to take a small carryon suitcase and just do laundry each week? Are there laundry facilities even available at the hotels during the tour, or is it just better to bring clothes at least to last the 2 week tour?
Thanks!
Trent

Wondering which is the best way to travel! I think the metro would be quicker, but I’ve heard a few stories about pickpockets, and I don’t fancy trying to fend them off laden down with a suitcase and backpack!
That said, the taxis can be expensive and take a long time in rush hour.
Anyone with experience out there – what would you recommend?

Hi
I am a little worried about the standard of accomodation that Contiki uses and hoping for some advice.
Im not a fussy person, I only look for a clean place to sleep and shower, Im just worried that the rooms will be dirty and have bugs, etc.
I’m ok with the hotels not being close to the city, and with the complaints of not a lot of hot water, more the bugs issue and cleanliness.
What has been people’s experience of hotels in the following countries? Any particular reviews?
- Madrid (any feedback on Hotel Florida Norte)
- Barcelona
- Avignon, Spain
- French Rivieria
- Pisa
- Florence
- Rome (any feedback on Roma Park)
- Sorrento
- Corfu
- Athens (any feedback on Arion Hotel)
I am not yet sure of where I will be staying in each of the places, and any reviews would be great.
Thanks!

Hey guys I’m planning my first Contiki trip for June / July 09, and am undecided between Impressions and Inspiration.
I was just wondering whether spending only one night in a lot of the places is too fast paced, and whether it gives you enough time to do everything?
Cheers,
Chris

Hey!
I’m wondering, other than iPod’s, books, crosswords and handheld video games, do you guys have any suggestions of things to do on teh long bus rides?
On a separate note, ladies, how did you manage to pack everything and still keep it under the weight restriction?! I am just starting to compile a bunch of things to bring and it seems like it would weigh a lot!

Hi All,
I am planning to do the Eugpt tour aswell as the Contrasts tour. Just wondering if anybody can reccomend a cheap airline that flies between Turkey and Cairo.
Also is Eygpt pretty safe because it is close to alot of the war zones such as Lebanon, etc ?
Thanks

Hello fellow Contiki peeps
I am planning on doing a tour of Europe in winter. Just wondering if any past travellers have any advice regarding jackets/scarves when going out at night time.
Are you able to check in your jacket at the door of clubs/pubs/restaurants or do you need to carry it with you (on the dance floor etc?)
Also, shoes it winter. Do I even bother packing heels/wedges or stick to boots?
Thanks folks ![]()

Hi I am in the process of figuring out how to take my cash to europe with me.
I looked at travellex cash passport (which i have used before in bali and found the fees a little excessive) and i was going to just get this again. But then I went into commonwealth and they seem to have a better deal with the travel money card- no charging for using card at a shop, flat fee to put all cash on and better exchange rates. and you can load x amount of euros x amount of pounds so you can lock in the rate.
I was just wondering if anyone had used either of these and what they thought about them? Thanks for your help ![]()

Just wondering with these tours what happens with your backpack during the day when you are touring around?
Also for the day trips when your out exploring the city- what is best to carry with you?
Should i be using a small daypack, a money belt or a shoulder bag from say pacsafe???? Or all 3?
I’d want to have my money, cards, passport & camera with me at all times but unsure what sort of bag to take if we went out for the night?
Cheers

Looking to book the Vietnam Explorer (15 day) and the Cambodia extension. Cambodia start Dec 24.
Looking for advice from anyone that has done this trip or who is planning on going.
I’ve done two Contiki trips and really want to see Asia – just don’t know if Contiki is the right way to go.

So I’m taking the European Panorama Tour and need to book my flights. Going there is not a problem, it’s coming home where I need some help. The tour finishes in Amsterdam and the bus stops off at Amsterdam’s Airport. It says that we arrive at the airport around 10 AM the last day. I can book a flight on Lufthansa that leaves at 12:30 to Frankfurt and flies from Frankfurt to Toronto at 5 PM. The other option is to go back with the bus to London and stay over night and fly out of Heathrow the next afternoon. Anyone who has been to Amsterdam, how long do you need to give yourself to check in for a flight. I can always get to the airport myself if the bus doesn’t give me enough time. The flights are also about the same money.

Hi! I’m going on Grand Explorer and I’m not sure what the appropriate “walking shoes” are. Are running shoes adequate? Or would trail/hiking shoes be better?
