I’m planning on doing one of the European trips in the near future. Is April a busy time to go, or is it better to wait for the summer?

I am completing a tour hopefully in 2009 as well as my own travels and i was wondering for those of you who have climbed the stairs of the Eiffel Tower..

1. Is it hard? Because I dont want to have aching muscles for the rest of my trip?
2. How long does it take and is it more worthwhile than just taking the lift?

Thanks!

Hey all
Im doing the Vista on dec 27th-just got my hotel list and did some research. in the brochure it said that they updated their hotels to more central locations. but it seems that everywhere im staying is like an HOUR away from the city not to mention having to catch a few buses and trains to get there! what do people think about this?

I am leaving for European Discovery next month…gosh..i can’t wait Cool . I have one question, can i do paragliding in this tour since it is not offer in the optional. And I am just wondering of free times in tyrol after white water rafting. If I am thinking to do paragliding in the afternoon instead of going to swarovzski. Do you guys think I have enough time or possible to do this? Thanks..

Hi guys,

I’m about to set off for a 50 day journey through Europe with a mate.
I land in London and am planning on seeing as much of Europe as possible.

I know nothing at all about backpacking or staying in hostels, and have these questions…

1. Do I need to pre book at hostels, or can I just rock up and be guaranteed a place to sleep?
2. What are the room/sleeping arrangements? Will I be able to book a room just for myself and my mate, or will we be sharing with strangers (I’m concerned about theft)
3. What is provided by the hostel during the stay… pillows, linen, towels, washing machines etc?
4. We are looking at driving through Europe rather than taking trains and buses to save time travelling between cities.. is this a good idea or will public transport be as quick?
5. Do I need a Visa for certain countries? The travel agent here told me I only needed a Visa if travelling into Russia (which I won’t be visiting)

I have searched and read up on here already, if these questions have been answered previously can I please be linked.

Thanks for your time
Cheers

Hey all,
I’m looking for advice about travelling Europe after Contiki – my friend and I are doing European Encounter then have about 7 weeks…we are hoping to head to Spain, Italy, Greece, Prague & Berlin, then Ireland and UK…ambitious, I know. We are very indecisive, and can’t decide about rail passes. Do we get a month? Or two? Or 15 days in two months? Or just pay as we go? Or are we better off just flying? Ooh, and do the rail passes only count for long journeys, or can you use them to say, get around Rome? If anyone has any experience, I would love some advice. Thanks!

Has anybody under 18 managed to get onto a contiki tour. I read on somebody’s review once there was a 16 year old on the tour.

I’m turning 17 in 2 weeks but really want to do a tour!

Hey all,
So, being super-excited for our trip, my husband and I have been trying to watch movies that take place in Europe.
So far we’ve seen Eurotrip, and National Lampoon’s European Vacation. Are there any other movies that we need to see? They don’t necessarily have to be about visiting Europe, just anything involving European life or culture is great. Any suggestions?
I’m kinda avoiding Hostel, btw. I’m easily freaked out. :-)

Hi Contikiers

Im just after some advice on optional extras. Should I budget to include all of them? Does everyone generally do all of them and are there any that aren’t really worth the money?

My tour leaves on the 2nd August for 29 days so Im kind of leaving it till the last minuite to get my cashola sorted!

Any comments are appreciated.

I was wondering if there are any Canadians that have done a tour that have an opinion on the phone situation.

If I brought a cell phone — it’d be purely to text back to Canada for quick updates to friends and family. Has anyone does this or have an opinion on it?

Or would it just be easier to get a long distance phone card and make quick calls?

Just a quick question, is it better for me to take Euro travellers cheques or pound sterling ones? Was just thinking i might get better rates for the sterling throughout europe. Will be buying from London before i travel. Any help would be appreciated. Just in 2 minds whether i should use credit card and cash. Or travellers cheques and cash. TIA .. Jamie

Hello,

My friend and I are planning to take a short trip over to Paris after our Southern Ireland and Great Britian tour. Can anyone recommend some hostels we could stay at while we are in Paris?

We are looking for a decent hostel, (clean, affordable) that is near the major tourist attractions. If there is a cheap hotel someone also could recommend that would be great!!
