Has anybody under 18 managed to get onto a contiki tour. I read on somebody’s review once there was a 16 year old on the tour.
I’m turning 17 in 2 weeks but really want to do a tour!

Hey all,
So, being super-excited for our trip, my husband and I have been trying to watch movies that take place in Europe.
So far we’ve seen Eurotrip, and National Lampoon’s European Vacation. Are there any other movies that we need to see? They don’t necessarily have to be about visiting Europe, just anything involving European life or culture is great. Any suggestions?
I’m kinda avoiding Hostel, btw. I’m easily freaked out. :-)

Hi, I am going on the Simply Italy tour next month and am stressing about having enough spending money. Do most restaurants and shops take credit cards?

Hi Contikiers
Im just after some advice on optional extras. Should I budget to include all of them? Does everyone generally do all of them and are there any that aren’t really worth the money?
My tour leaves on the 2nd August for 29 days so Im kind of leaving it till the last minuite to get my cashola sorted!
Any comments are appreciated.

I was wondering if there are any Canadians that have done a tour that have an opinion on the phone situation.
If I brought a cell phone — it’d be purely to text back to Canada for quick updates to friends and family. Has anyone does this or have an opinion on it?
Or would it just be easier to get a long distance phone card and make quick calls?

Just a quick question, is it better for me to take Euro travellers cheques or pound sterling ones? Was just thinking i might get better rates for the sterling throughout europe. Will be buying from London before i travel. Any help would be appreciated. Just in 2 minds whether i should use credit card and cash. Or travellers cheques and cash. TIA .. Jamie

Hello,
My friend and I are planning to take a short trip over to Paris after our Southern Ireland and Great Britian tour. Can anyone recommend some hostels we could stay at while we are in Paris?
We are looking for a decent hostel, (clean, affordable) that is near the major tourist attractions. If there is a cheap hotel someone also could recommend that would be great!!

Hi Everyone,
I have noticed a lot of discussions on how to get from Heathrow Airport to the Royal National Hotel but I haven’t been able to locate anything on leaving from the Royal National Hotel and heading back to Heathrow airport.
Do all the tubes that run on the picadilly line go to the airport, if not, how can you tell which ones do and which ones don’t?
Thanks

Hey guys,
Im going to be travelling on teh Europe Camping thingy for 45 days…has anyone done one of the camping tours yet? Im wondering what kinda camping they mean…as in tent and sleeping bag camping, or ‘fight-for-a-spot-on-the-ground-and-share-with-8-people-in-a-three-person-tent’ camping.
Drop us a line if you have any info! Or are thinking of doing it yourself
Cheers,
Dave

Hi all,
A friend and I are heading to both the North and South Islands of NZ in August/September, we were wondering what clothes we should pack. We wanted to know if it was best to get a jacket which is warm or waterproof or both? Also, if we should take hiking shoes or regular sneakers??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi! I am Sara and I am interested in doing a Contiki tour. I want to go in May 2007. Does anyone have any recomendations on which European Trip to choose? I spent 3 weeks on a family trip to Ireland this past summer. I am 18 and will be traveling by myself this time around. Thanks for the help!!

Hi All,
I’m doing LA to the Bay in July 2009 and I’m staying in San Fran for another week or so at the end of the tour. I’ve booked the HI San Fran City Centre but have heard it’s in a dodgy area – would I be better staying at the HI San Fran Downtown? Or somewhere else totally different?? I’m having trouble deciding as both seem to have their pros and cons and as a single female traveller, I want to be sure that I’m in the best place!
Thanks,
Frances

So I’ve been trying to do a little research, looking up average temperatures for September in Europe…such as Munich, Paris, Rome, London, etc. where I’d be staying most likely (looks like European Discovery, or maybe the European Highlights).
But…I’m still wondering if September is really the best bet weather-wise (and money-wise too since there can probably be some good sales). My dad can’t seem to budge on going any other time since winter would be too cold (plus I’d miss out on some excursions). I can only go after mid-August cause of summer classes…
Is September chilly or just right? And what part of September would be ideal? I know Oktoberfest is the last 2 weeks, which would be interesting to observe, but yeah… I don’t want to end up going during a real rainy season or anything.
Any tips? Thanks a bunch!

Contiki has got 3 dates after Dec 25th for European Discovery, when do they normally fill up??
I guess my real question would be none of them are DD or PD so are these dates after Dec 25th normally booked or no???

Hi,
I am going on euro vista in July 07 and it is my very first contiki tour; I look up the driving distance between most of the cities on the tour, the average is like 400km, with Paris to Lucerne been approximately 590km. How fast is the highway at Europe? How long will most of the bus trip on the vista took?
Do you have scenery to see on the way? I heard you get 45 mins break every 2 to 3 hours, is that the case for vista?
Do you feel that you rushing from place to place on the tour and the quality of the trip are reduced or you feel like you have seen the important highlight of the country?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Fi
