Hi everyone, my sister and i are booked for the London to Athens tour which leaves on july 17th, and i have a question about drinking/clubbing ages. I am 19 so i know i won’t have a problem, but my sister will still be 17 when we leave (turning 18 on the trip) and i realized that she may not be able to get into some bars/clubs with the rest of us, or will they let her in anyway if we’re in a group?
Any advice would be great!

Hi All,
I’m thinking of doing a Winter Tour (12 or 16 days) in February and not sure if it’s the right thing to do?
Has anyone done a Winter tour? How bad was the weather and did it rain alot? were you still able to go out and enjoy the sites or was it too cold?
I have been to Ny in November when it has been raining and it ruined my trip as we couldnt go outside and enjoy the sites and don’t want my Europe trip to be the same rugged up with not much to do.
thanks!

I’m from the US and totally clueless about cell phones and SIM cards and international calling costs.
I want to be able to make local calls/texts while traveling in Australia (to friends I will be meeting up with after the tour) and also have a local number so they can call/text me.
I know I will need an unlocked cell and purchase a prepaid SIM card. Do you recommend I wait until I arrive there to purchase everything? Or are the Contiki ekit phones and calling plans a good deal? http://contiki.ekit.com/ekit/M…Info/Service/au_just
Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. And I’m leaving in 2 weeks so I need the advice sooooon! Thanks!

Hi, I’m thinking about doing to Ocean to Outback tour but I can only do it in July. I know that it is winter in Oz at that time of year. I’m just wondering if I will be able to surf, swim ect or of it will be too cold.

I’m going on Panorama, leaving in June.
Should I be lugging a month’s supply of shampoo with me, or will some of the hotels have shampoo provided?

Ok so I am going on the European Discovery tour and am wondering if anyone has gone on this tour before and if they know about hair dryers in the hotels? I would love to not bring my travel hairdryer if the hotels have there own. Here is what I found out and what I need to find out… any help would be great:
Hotels with hair dryer acording to their site:
- Hotel Garden (Venice)
- Hottel Imperial (London) hair dryer on request
- Holiday Inn Munich Sud (Germany)
- Villa St. Dominique (Rome)
- Viva Hotel Fleming (Florence)
- Hotel Ibis Porte De Clichy (Paris, France)
*Note Hotel Fleming and Hotel Ibis have something like a dryer that gives heat but is not very powerful at all.
Hotels I am unsure off if they have hair dryers:
-Ibis Schiphol (Amsterdam)
- Hotel Winzerhaus (Rhine Valley, Germany)
Hotels that do not have hair dryers:
- Gasthof Ittererwirt (Austrian Tyrol)
- Hotel Lowengraben (Lucerne – Jail hotel)
Thanks, it would really make my bag lighter if I didn’t have to bring my hair dryer.

My buddies and I need some advice for a possible Contiki tour we are taking. There will be three of us going (all guys). We’re all 23, just out of college with engineering jobs, good looking and outgoing.
Basically we just want to have fun in Europe. Here are my questions:
1. Is it a good idea for three single guys to travel on one of these tours? In other words, will there be girls on the tour with us looking to do the same things we are (bars/clubs/nightlife)?
2. Do you have freetime at night? Like let’s say we tour Amsterdam all day. Can we shower up and go out to the clubs and bars all night after that and wind up at the hotel at like 5 AM? This is the biggest concern for us..
3. Can we venture away from the group for dinner so we can eat at nice restaraunts of our own choice?
4. When’s the best time to do the Europe thing? We’re thinking sometime in August.
5. Do you have freetime at night? Like let’s say we tour Amsterdam all day. Can we shower up and go out to the clubs and bars all night after that and wind up at the hotel at like 4 AM? (If you can’t tell, this is a big sticking point for us
).
6. How rushed are you?
Basically we are debating this tour against flying into a city and going from city to city (or country to country) at our own leisure, backpacking with no set itinerary.
I know I’m posting on a board that’s bound to be pro-Contiki, but any messages would help.
Also, if some younger people were going at a certain time in August who post on here we’d probably just book with them so at least we have the comfort in “knowing” a person(s) on the tour.
Thanks everyone!!

I’ve been told that it may be too cold to camp in Europe in April. Is this true?? I would like to hear from anyone who has done it in April. How cold will it be

I know we have to pay for the optional meals up front, but just wanted to know if at each of the stops that include optional dinners, if we get to pick our meal from a menu or is the meal a set thing for every one? I’m a very fussy eater so I’d hate to be given a set sort of thing.
What sort of food is made available at the optional dinners throughout Europe?

Just wondering if anyone would be able to let me know how far in advance to your trip do you recieve the contiki documents?
