Hey all,
I’m doing the Euro Discovery Tour (12 days) in Jan, and then travelling solo for about 5 weeks afterwards through Western Europe. This is absolute shoestring, so my budget is pretty tight, and I was looking to busget around 50euro a day while on contiki.
Now reading everyone else’s posts I’m starting to think thats way too little… but I can’t just blow all my money on contiki or i’ll end up on the streets later on.
Is it possible to enjoy myself, have a few drinks and hang out with everyone on this type of budget? (This doesn’t include Trip Optionals by the way)
Thanks in advance x

Im heading to the USA in under a month. Im still undecided on which way to go with my mobile phone. Im not sure if I should get International Roaming turned on for my phone or if I should get an International SIM Card, such as the Contiki Ekit Sim, and use that. I’ve tried a search on the forums for ekit sim cards for the US and I could only find one and they said it wasnt the best coverage wise and for price it was still fairly dear.
Just wondering if anyone else has used the Ekit SIM, or a similar one, in the US and how they found it? Would you recommend it or just getting International Roaming?
I’ll be away for just over a month so for me using a mobile phone will be easier to keep in touch with friends and family than sending emails etc.
Thanks
Aaron

a few people have told me to invest in a money belt to wear under your clothes! Apparently u keep your passport and credit cards in it! Any one else doing / does this in their travels?

Just seeing how many people continue on after their tours are finished?
I am heading over to the UK in April and looking to do the European Contrasts Tour if available at start of May and then continue on down to Spain for the Summer- if anyone has similar plans drop me a msg.

i know the ‘contiki cough’ thing has been done to death, and the general agreement is to get enough sleep, take multi-vitamins, especially leading up to the trip, and to bring lots of cold and flu tablets.
but i want to specifically know whether i can bring my Robitussin with me to europe. i know codeine is illegal in Greece (i’m going there), and i’m assuming there are bans on psuedoephedrine all around, but Robitussin contains bromhexide hydrochloride instead of psuedoephedrine, so will that be ok? i really need it, and was wondering if i should try to get a letter from my doctor, even though it’s not a perscription medicine?

hi anyone know the hotels or hostels for the whirl tour? im deciding between that and a superior tour and have seen that many of the superior hotels are a little out of the city in case id like to go there. so the whirl may end up being better. it would really help out in deciding. thanks a lot!!

Hey all,
I’ll be over in Germany before heading to London at the end of December to go on my first tour! Was just wondering from which airport, Heathrow or Gatwick, it’d be easier to get to the Royal National.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I’ll be staying in the UK indefinitely after the tour to find a job and settle down… well maybe not settle..!
I heard that in these circumstances contiki let us bring some extra luggage – such as another small suitcase additional to the 20kg one – on the tour.
Is this true?

Has anyone done the European Panorama tour where you travel by ferry from Italy to Corfu & vice versa? I am going in Sept & am worried as I get quite sea sick so just wondering how rough the seas are?

Its not a question of cost for me. Which is better for meeting new people and ‘bonding’? Any opinions on the difference (good and bad)? I’m going alone, so I don’t want to be stuck with couples and hence, shut up in my luxury room all night!

Is there a pre tour meeting the night before you leave for the Grand Northern, North By North East tours?

Hi,
I’m thinking of doing Alice and Kakadu, i see that theres either a choice to start in alice or start in darwin, is there any difference in the tour itself or are they all the same?
Is a paticular once better than the other?

Ive read a few places that in Europe your pin code for your savings card has to be 4 digits…mine is 6 will i have a problem accessing my account with a longer pin code?
If so it isnt a problem to change my pin code to a 4 digit but would rather not if its possible to use 6 digits ![]()

Hi there, I’m headed on the european whirl (6may 07) and need some advice on arrival times. I know the contiki bus is supposed to arrive back in London about 7pm. Does anyone know if the bus has ever broken down or been really late arriving back at london as I need to catch plane at 10pm that night. Cheers.

Thinking about doing the Grand Northern USA tour next year but in reverse where it starts in LA and ends in NY.
Wanted to book 6 months in advance for the discounts but concerned that since the Contiki 2011 brochure lists only the standard tour from NY that doing the reverse of this or any Contiki tour would have a much higher risk of cancellation and no mention of preferred departure dates yet. The brochure only refers you to the website for details and the reverse tours only depart once a month. I am planning to go around July 2011 which I assume is the busiest time for Contiki tours in USA.
Has anyone done a reverse tour or booked one and had it cancelled? Do reverse tours offer preferred departure dates?
Cheers.
