Hey all,
Does anyone know what the deal is with duty free liquids and connecting flights? I fly from Brisbane to Singapore where i wish to purchase some alcohol and cologne, obviously this is going to be over 100ml. I know that this will be allowed on the plane when i board at Singapore, however, i then fly to Heathrow where i have to clear customs and check in for a flight to Ireland. Will these duty free liquids be confiscated at Heathrow because of these 100ml restrictions? Also, flying back from Ireland to Heathrow will this again be an issue?
Sorry if this makes little sense, but any help or advice would be excellent.
Cheers,
Dale

How often did you dress up on the trip? I’m trying to figure out how many dressier things to bring. Skirts, dresses? What was the norm? Thanks a ton!

Hi,
I’m doing the 45 day Ultimate European and the 16 day Great Britain and Ireland Tour and I have no clue what size bag I should take. I have had a look at the luggage limits but still unsure as most of the bags in Australia go on how many litres they are can anyone suggest anything.
Thanks

Just out of curiosity…what is the typical breakdown?

I just heard about this:
quote:
You can still marvel at the Pantheon in Rome this summer. Just don’t be eating any gelato while doing it.
Rome has passed a measure outlawing the eating of snacks at many of its most famous tourist attractions, in an effort, say officials, to preserve the city’s treasured monuments.
The snack ban went in effect this past weekend, and will last through October.

Hey all,
I’m just looking for some advice on which trip to pick. I’ve wanted to go to Europe forever, but never had a chance. I’m confused in all those European Inspiration, Discovery, Whirlpool etc, so help me please. I’m looking for a trip length not more than 14 days and wherein there’s at least a day or two stay in between, so we’re not always on a bus/train. Looking to go this summer.
Thanks a lot,

Hi
I am hoping to hear from anyone who has travelled to the Swiss Alps and who may regularly suffer from car sickness.
I am currently looking into which tour to do now, but most of them seem to go to Swiss Alps. I fear that if i choose a tour that goes there I will spend those days being too sick to lift my head instead of being able to enjoy the experience.
Is there anyone out there who has made it to the alps and can you tell me if it is really really windy in the moutain area, did you get car sick and do you think a regular sickie would be able to handle it??
Would love any feedback at all.
Thanks heaps.

Well her I am last minute once again (I hate my job for that…) trying to see if I can still get on a trip. There was supposed to be an April 2nd 23 day London to Athens trip and now it’s not appearing on their list. Would that indicate that there wasn’t enough interest or that it is full? It coincides with the time off I have….

Hi All,
My trip on the European Encounter is getting close now (June) and I’m getting nervous! I’m worried about taking the right items. I have 2 questions:
1. When it says luggage no more than 40lbs is that only when we first arrive to start the trip or is that throughout? (Not that I will have 70lbs or anything, but I may have 45lbs after picking up things along the way)
2. What size backpack is recommended? A standard school backpack that would hold maybe 4 textbooks or would a smaller sized day bag be better than a full backpack? I’m not sure how much “stuff” we would need to carry with us through the daytrips (coats, water, food, camera, etc.)
Thanks very much!

Hey everyone![]()
I’m getting set to go on my first Contiki (European Panorama June – Aug!!) and have a few last min packing questions:
1. Trying to organize my stuff into 3 bags: (A) 1 backpack (aka luggage) for under the bus, (B) 1 small duffel bag (overnight bag) for overhead on the bus (my tour requires an overnight bag for short Greece and Switzerland stays) and © a small shoulder/handbag (aka purse) to carry around outside during the day. Does this seem to be the general system? If it came down to it (i.e. if there was some kind of issue with having 3 pieces), my purse is small enough to fit in my overnight duffel bag. Just wondering if this sounds OK…
2. I heard there are power outlets for charging on all of the buses…is this true?? Even if it’s only 4 outlets like I’ve read, that’s fine, just wondering if this is a guarantee on the bus.
3. I’m planning on bringing just a standard black pair of flipflops and a pair of runners as far as shoes go. Will I absolutely NEED to bring a pair of dressy shoes as well? (I’m female.) Are there that many dressy excursions or do you think the flipflops could suffice with a nice outfit?
4. The way my backpack (the luggage one) is set up, it doesn’t really allow for locking (aka it’s a drawstring close, not zipper). I’ve read a story or two about hotel rooms being robbed. What are the chances of this happening?? Do I have the option of leaving my luggage bag on the bus and just bringing my overhead/duffel bag into the hotel for the night??
5. Laundry! What kind of options/opportunities can I expect?
Thanks for all your help on these Q’s!!

I am looking at the London-Rome budget tour. I was wondering how easily the city is accessed on each stop. I would generally like to come back to the site to change before going out for the night after a long day of sightseeing. Is this an option? Similarly, how “private” are the showers?

I am unsure on how the charging of phones/cameras/ipods works in a camping tour. Is the best way to charge them on the buses and sort of hope there will be a spare plug? would love to hear how others have done it. ![]()

I’m doing european vista starting May 17 and was wondering what the humidity is like. My concerns are in regards to bringing a straightening iron and drying clothes in my room. If it’s really humid, I don’t want to bother bringing an iron and will i have time to dry my clothes if they’re hanging up?
Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this issue! Thanks!
