Gday All
I’ll start by saying that I did have a search around the forums for an answer to this question but could only find things that were a general ‘what to bring to wear’ and mainly only stuff for the ladies! There was nothing to answer my specific question as far as I could see but I’m happy to be corrected.
So I have got all my Contiki pack stuff and I was flipping through the book this morning and I come across this on page 7 “NB: In European countries, jeans are not considered acceptable dress for night clubs”…..Hang on! All I have read on the forums and stuff so far has said that clubs over there are fairly chillaxed, I mean no slops but as long as you make an effort your right.
The idea that I had was I was only going to bring my best duds overseas with me which is mainly jeans (all nice ones of course no rips all up to the standard to get into any Australian club) except for a pair of cargoes and a my suit pants but am I seriously going to have to wear only those out every time I go out.
If the answer is yes, well I’m no fashion tragic but obviously my subscription to French Vogue ran out a while ago so what in the hell am I supposed to buy to wear over there if I can’t wear jeans?! The only thing I can think of is like khakis. It’s pretty much unheard of here in the land of Oz for a guy to wear anything else but Jeans, or maybe I’m just not going to the right places…
Any help is much appreciated, cheers.
Wingnut.

I am looking to do the beaches and reefs tour in August, but my friend just backed out.
I was wondering if anyone has gone on the tour alone (this is mainly a ? for the ladies out there).
How was it? Was it easy meeting people? Did you feel safe? Honesty is greatly appreciated.
I really want to do this experience but it is scary going off some place for several weeks on your own and not knowing anyone.
Thank you ![]()

Hi All,
I’m doing the European Inspirations tour leaving Dec 29th; I am thinking of jumping off my tour in Paris (as the following day is just returning to London) what can I do for 5 days before I need to be back in London for my flight back home?
I’m considering spending more time in France (maybe South of France?) or heading down to Barcelona for a few nights or maybe even 3 days skiing somewhere?
What are everyone’s recommendations?

Okay, in July my boyfriend and I are going on an European Escapade and are so excited. We are really easy going people and make friends easily. We often separate and do our own things in groups. So i guess what i’m asking is what did you think of couples on your trips?

Hello all.
I am going on European Discovery soon. When I made my reservations, I told the rep that I am a Diabetic and that my medicine needs to be keep cool. How would I do this (other than packing the small cooler I have)? Are there fridges/ice machines in the hotels? Or does it vary depending on where I go? Should I call Contiki and ask their advice? Also, this very small cooler has not been counted as luggage at the airport, would Contiki count it as luggage or no?
A friend of mine went to Europe last month (not on Contiki) and gave me some advice. He said NOT to get traveler’s checks because the conversion fees are very high. He said, just take my ATM/bank card and use that and use the ATMs. What is better to do? To convert a small amount of cash to Euros here in the US? Or get a prepaid debit card? I’m reading a lot of stuff in the advice area but not finding a lot of help.
And is it OK to take my laptop with me? Is it even worth it? If I take it with me, would I be able to use it in the hotel room? Is there more information on cell phone use in Europe other than roaming costs suck? Should I get a calling card, would that be better? I’m trying to do things as cheaply as possible.
And last, I will only have $1300 for the trip, maybe a little more, before conversions and stuff. Will this be enough to get food, and maybe a little bit more? I think it’s about 80 euros a day that that converts to, I did the conversion a little while ago, but I guess actually converting from USD to Euros costs money too… so…
If anyone can help, thanks!

What should I do about bringing money? What I mean is, should I just bring cash and Credit Cards? Or should I look into opening a bank account in NZ for the Month I’ll be there? I’m Canadian, so I’m thinking opening a bank account would be alot of needless hassle for a 1 month.
Any insights would be helpful
Thanx

Hi guys,
I’ve booked an 8.45pm flight with Alaskan Airlines after my Grand Southern tour ends in Los Angeles on December 23. Normally I’d stay the night but I’m flying to Seattle to spend Xmas with a friend and I want to spend as much time as possible with him.
I’m just wondering the likelihood of me missing this flight. Should I be fine or should I try to change it? I’d really prefer to fly out that night if I can but I don’t want to lose $500!
Cheers,
Jess

What is the cheapest and easiest way to call from the UK to the US?
Has anyone had any experience using Totally London prepaid calling cards? (http://www.callingcardsonline.co.uk/visitlondon/)

Hi,
I can’t find anything about what to wear in October/November in Europe.
We (my partner & I) will be there for the whole 2 months. I’ve checked out the weather in europe in october it’s about 16-22 degress celcius in most places. I’m guessing it might be a little colder than the 16-22 degress we get here in Australia ? Am i right ?
Any way, any help would do.
Thanks

I am going to Europe for the first time this summer, doing a contiki tour (Amsterdam to Barcelona) and then backpacking around a bit afterwards. I have been hearing really conflicting advice regarding whether or not to buy a eurail pass, so I was hoping that anyone here with experience travelling to or around the specific places I’m planning to visit might be able to offer tips.
I would like to go from Barcelona to San Sebastian, and then on to Bordeaux and Lyon in France. From there, I’d like to visit Italy and travel to Venice, Florence, Naples (and Pompeii), and Rome.
I am hearing that in France and Italy (though I recently read Italy and Spain) you HAVE to make reservations for any train trips and that these are a considerable added expense if you’re planning to do many of them. I cannot find any available schedules or fares for the time of year I’m going (September), but in some resources, point-to-point looks like it might end up being cheaper. Yet everyone tells me I should get the pass!
Has anyone done any of the legs of the journey I’m talking about? What’s your experience travelling with (or without) a pass in France, Italy, Spain, and across their borders?
Would really appreciate any advise as I am very broke and don’t want to end up spending money that I will regret….
Thanks! jaxx

Heya ive been reading a few posts and a lot of people are worried about having to take lots of memory cards for digital cameras, im not sure if people know that you can buy a little ipod camera adaptor and then you can transfer all your photos straight to your Ipod from your digital camera. I got the camera adaptor when i got my ipod and its a lot of the reason i decided to get an Ipod in the first place.

Hi!
I’ll be flying solo all the way from NYC. Want to make the most of my trip and am wondering any opinions on the NZ weather in September?
I know later in the year it is warmer but I need this get-away sooner than later! Anyone else booking Southern Scenic tour in September?
Also, age range probably varies, right? I am 30-something. I’m thinking it is probably a variety though. Give me a shout if anyone else is booking this trip. My first tour solo so it should be interesting! Thanks.
Lisa
