Hello all,

I’ve booked to do the 25 day Aussie Explorer. I know on my last trip (European Discovery) it was a debate of which to pack your stuff in, a suitcase or a backpack. I chose suitcase.

This time for Australia, I was still considering suitcase, but the trip sounds a little more rugged.

For those who have done any aussie tour before, what was the general consensus of other travellers. What would you recommend?

Daryl.

I am planning on doing the Grand Southern in 2008 and was wondering when is the best time to do it? What is the weather like… I would probably prefer the cooler months. Any help would be great Smiler

Hi!
I’m going to go on a Contiki tour at the end of Dec 2006 – Jan 2007, but I’m having problems deciding!

I’m going to be by myself, so ideally I would like to go on a tour where there a few single people or groups of travellers, I’m not too keen on spending my holiday with just couples! – I have friends who went on Encounter last year, and they said there were quite a few couples…. :P

I’m looking at either European Discovery or European Encounter. I was leaning towards Discovery, because it is cheaper, but I think it might be too short.
I’m quite keen on Encounter, it’s a good length, but I’m concerned that due to it being more pricey (and Timeout instead of Concept), it’s more likely to be a tour that more couples take, with maybe less young people (I’m 24 btw).

Any thoughts??

I’m going on the grand adventurer and only have expandable suitcases. They are soft shell not hard and everyone else I know also only has expandable cases. They do not expand much – will this be a problem? I’m not planning to expand them during the trip as I prefer to try to pack light. It is just an extra zip around the outside of the suitcase – how strict are they on the non-expandable part?

Hi-

Am going on my first 13 day tour in Oct…was wondering if I was crazy to book another 13 day tour right after the first…or if you think it would be better to wait and go in a few months on the next one…

Hey ppl. I know the tour ends in Paris on July 27th but the Euro Adventurer is booked out for the July 25th departure.

Anybody know if the 22nd departure might cross paths with the tour or any other contiki tours?

Hi,

In two days I’ll be flying to Sydney for Beaches & Reefs! Would be great to chat to some travel buddies before I leave Smiler

Also – the holiday Inn Sydney was full so I’m staying near by. I’ve heard there is a welcome meeting there the night before the tour leaves? Is it worth coming to the hotel for that or just turning up on the morning of the tour? Don’t wanna miss out on any bonding time!

Any advice would be apprecaited.

How safe is the neighbourhood around the Royal National and the Imperial? Is it pretty sketchy or would you consider it safe enough to go for a walk alone at night?

My tour says its “Not Available” in the dates and rates section! Eeker I really hope this means that the tour is booked out, not that it is cancelled!!!!!

Can anyone tell me? Confused

Since budgeting is a common thread……

Just a note that the price listed on the website for optional extras isnt necessarily the most up to date source (in case some didnt know that already).

In my info pack for my tour some were a few euro more or less, so when budgeting dont make the mistake of adding up the cost of all the optional extras and only having that amount of euro for them, have a little more. Smiler

for those of you doing Simply Italy, the Lake Garda Cruise is 9 Euro (in my info sheet about the optional extras – but again could change by the time your tour starts.

So there are: playboy mansion tours, gossip girl tours and sex in the city tours, but, does anyone know if any contiki tours have a “hills” tour or if “the hills” tour even exists in LA?

Does anyone know much about transfers to and from Stansfed airport ? I need to get from Heathrow to Stansfed, then to the Royal National Hotel. Then after the tour I need to get from the Royal National Hotel to Stansfed airport. Any information would be great so that I can do some further research. Cheers Cool

I have a question in regards to the issuance of the contiki travel documents. I read somewhere that the usual time we receive them is around 2-3 weeks before departure date.

My problem is my friend and I are travelling solo around Europe for about 5 weeks before the contiki tour. Is it possible to arrange for them to be sent out earlier? If not are they even that important?
Can we just turn up on the date and mark our names off?

Thanks

Hi

Do you select and pay for optionals at the beginning of the tour & can you change your mind to not do/do an option. OR do you pay as we go kind of thing?

Cheers Rachel

ok so i picked up my travel docs and im still confused with the itinerary and sightseeing. ok so it says like see the eiffel tower, arc de triomphes etc and like visit the old town in.. so does contiki take us to those places or is it like when were there go check out (find it yourself). to what extent does contiki take us sightseeing, and on days in the city is it just up to us to go see everything. if someone could clear this up for me would be heaps appreciated!

hi

I was on the European Encounter tour for 19 September but it got cancelled. Now I’m on the european discovery tour for 18 September, which is also not a guaranteed tour, which means that it can also get cancelled. Just wondering if their is somebody else out there with the same problem? If this tour get’s cancelled then I’ll probaly go back-packing as all the other tours are fully booked
