Hi Guys

I am going to LA on the 23rd of November and start the LA to the Bay Tour on the 24th. I arrive first thing at the morning and even though I am staying at Kyoto Grand I assume I wont be able to check in that early so will have a day doing stuff and getting tired so I can try beat jetlag!
Does anyone have any recommendations for what to do in a day… in LA? I was thinking of just hoping to take a bus out to the coast and go for a walk around. I have heard down town LA near the hotel is a kinda dodgey area and shouldnt be there late at night as I am travelling alone..
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

If I want to do a tour that meets up in London and Amsterdam is the first destination, am I able to meet up with the group in Amsterdam? For example, The European Inspiration (Winter). I want to spend a bit more time in Amsterdam than just 2 nights, so if I stayed 3-4 nights before, can I just meet up at the hotel on the first day of the tour, or do I have to travel to London and start the tour there?

I will be in London (at RN) for about 6 days before my tour starts. I am wondering if the London Pass is worth buying? I plan on packing in a TON of sightseeing, so financially, I am erring on the side of purchasing the Pass. I was wondering if anyone has used it, or looked into it and if you have any advice. Thanks!!

Hello! My name is Shannon and I am 24yo female from Tasmania, Australia. I am heading off solo for my first overseas adventure in May to tour Europe & Egypt. In July I will be basing myself in London for a working holiday, whilst travelling the UK. I would be interested in hearing from fellow travellers that might also be staying on in London and arriving around the same time as me. It’s a little scary to be arriving alone in such a big place (especially coming from such a quaint little place like Tasmania!!!).
Looking forward to hearing from you…. and happy travelling Cool

So my understanding is that alot of the people Im travelling with are going to be from Aus/NZ…Im sure theres some from the US too. Im sure we have to introduce ourselves to everyone at the beginning of the tour…so I was thinking…

Im from California and I was thinking of bringing something small (like a keychain or something) that was California related to give to everyone. I thought it was kinda a cool idea…but then thought it was really corny…so I dunno.

Any input??

I am thinking of doing this but I have some questions that I hope someone can answer.

- Is the price on here per person, and does it include airfare?
- are you staying in hostels or hotels, and if you are staying in hostels, can I get a room that is just for me and my husband?
- do you have to do everything that the group is doing or can you go off on your own?
-is it smart to bring suitcases and where would they be stored?
-how much time is spent travelling throughout the day?
-how much time do you get to spend in london? would it be wise to stay an extra day there?

Hi,

I took this tour which was going from Berlin all the way till Budapest. BUt I took off after Prague since I had another tour planned afterwards. The tour manager was terrible. his name was Paul. He was from South Africa and was only interested in brinking poeple to the next beer bar or drinking joint. He wasnted very forth coming with information. Teh reason we concluded was he has been with Contiki for way too long(close to 7 yrs) and was going to start his own touring company back in South Africa. He was more interested in promoting that rather. He was quite jovial. But from a Tour manager, I woudl expect information and more history about places. The included meals were terrible. SOme of the authentic meals for which we paid for were also pathetic. I think paying of r any of the optionsl was a waste of money since it wasnt worth the price. You can have a decent meal on your own budget than pay the price Contiki asks for. The walking tour dyuring the day was worth doing for the price. The guide was very enthusiatic and was forth coming with information. He could have been our guide for whole of Berlin rather than Paul. When we went to the concentration camps, we were left on our own without any information. While other touring companies had their guide walk along with them inside the camps and explain stuff. Something similar happened in Dresdan. We were given horrible maps and we were left to wander around in the city for 3 hours. The price paid for this tour should have included the guide walking with us and explaining stuff. But no! That wasnt the case. On the last day in Berlin, the tour manager suggested the most crappiest place for dinner. He said its a superb place and food is really cheap. But the bill ofcourse doesnt say that. Any decent entree is not less than 15Eu. Thats not cheap. Fries were around 8Eu. Drinks were more than 10EU. It was waste of our time and money. The czech meal was definitely not worth the price. The service was pathetic and if few people had dietery requirements, tghey were served terrible food instead. For example one of the girls in the group is allergic to garlic but she eats other stuff. What she got was boiled water with some carrots in it. One of the girls dont eat pork but eats duck and chicken. But Mr Paul got confused and did not bring Pork nor Duck intead got cheap chicken legs while everyone else was having rich meal. Shouldnt the food be served according to the price paid. If someone is vegetarian or does not eat pork or beef. THese meals are terrible since you would get other cheaper meat or boiled vegetables instead. Accomodations were alright on these tours but breakfast was terrible. Included dinners were terrible. Overall total diappointment. Only advantage of taking contiki is you meet people and make friends.

I’ve heard that if you go around the back of Clarence house you are able to get your photo taken with one of the famous guards.

Is this true?

Hi my husband & I are looking at going on the Winter Inspiration (19 day)in March 2011. We like the look of this tour because it has a 2 nights and a full day in every city. Just wondering on the free days does the bus drop you off & pick you in the city or do you have to get public transport? Also if you’re not doing the optionals can you still get a ride in & back with the bus or do you have to find your own way? And I read that the cog railway in Lucerne is shut in the winter, is this true? cause i really wanted to do that.
Thanks,
Amy
