I’ll be spending three days in London in just over a week and will be staying at the Royal National, and have found a million things I want to see and do in London during the day, but I’m not sure about the evenings.
A lot of the touristy places close around 6pm, but it won’t get dark for a while afterward and I was wondering if people know of any places to visit in the evening (excluding bars/pubs/clubs; I’m thinking more along the lines of museums, art galleries, historic buildings, etc.)
Thoughts?

I’m booked onto the 25 of June European Highlights tour, so it’s going to be warm in Europe, and I’m planning on taking several dresses to wear during the day, and out at night. They’re all fairly casual, but a couple have slightly more full knee length skirts. My question is, am I going to look out of place in Europe if I’m in dresses and not shorts or pants?

Hey Everyone,
I’ve heard terrible news that sometimes the White Water Rafting optional in Austria is cancelled, because the water is too cold! Since I’m going in April… should I hope for the best but expect the worst? It was one optional I was really looking forward to!
And, if it is a go…
should I bring a waterproof disposable camera? I’ve heard the scenery is amazing, plus I want to get some shots of us rafting!

Hi everyone
I have just returned from doing the Grand Southern LA to NY. I had a fantastic time and I would recommend this trip.
It was my first contiki trip and my first trip abroad solo. I was really nervous but it was such a good experience, I can’t wait to do another one! If you are travelling solo, don’t worry, you will have a brilliant time.
If you have any questions please let me know and I would be happy to try and answer them.

Hey guys,
So i just found out that I scored a spot on the Eastern Discovery trip, leaving from NY on the 28th of December 2007 and finishing in New Orleans. I was just wondering if anyone knew what there will be to do for New Years Eve (which is going to be in Raleigh, NC apparently)? I’m only 19- not always being able to go out didn’t really bother me when i did the Western Highlights tour earlier this year, because we had a lot of room parties and there were 5 other under 21-ers, but this is NEW YEARS EVE! i cant just sit alone in my room!!!! any ideas??…
Cheers,
Tara ![]()

So I recently was searching for a converter/adapter for my trip and found one at BedBath&Beyond by Samsonite, but when reading the back it said do not use with battery recahrgers, etc..so I wanted to know the etc! I called up Samsonite and they had me call the company that makes them for them, the guy told me, think of a converter for travel products, travel irons, travel hair dryer..that require much power.
He said for charging ipods, camera batteries, computer, stereo, flat iron, curling iron to use a step down transformer!! Here’s one they have on Samsonite website. This will still require an adapter though, because these transforms are made for traveling to Europe. No clue why they don’t just have adapters included!

I heard that some countries won’t let you use a passport that is about to expire within 6 months. Is there any truth to that? I am going to Greece in May, so I might not have enough time to renew it until I get back.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with taking a suitcase on a camping tour? I bought a backpack but even a 14kg there is no way I’m able to carry it and I dread what it would be like once and buy more things! Would a suitcase fit into the tents?
Thanks!

Hi.
I’ll be going on the Simply Italy tour on June 18-29, and I’ve been doing loads of research on what I would like to do during my free time. I’ve come across the must-see sights, and for some of the museums, like the Uffizi, Accademia, and the Vatican, they recommend that you book tickets in advance. I was considering doing this, but then I keep thinking about it and what if we hit massive traffic on our way to Florence, for example, and we arrive later than thought and I lose my reserved ticket? Have people reserved their tickets? Do you recommend it for some sights versus others? Do people on Contiki tours tend to reserve their tickets, or just go with the flow? Do you think I’ll have a problem getting into museums and the sort? I know that when I was in Paris 3 years ago, we arrived at the Louvre at 9am to stand on line and we didn’t have to wait too long. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!
Oh and any further recommendations on what to do with my free time would be great…I want to get the most out of this trip.
Thanks!
Take care.
