You need a visa for travel to Australia – either an electronic visa if you are from the UK, USA, France etc or you need to apply to the Australian High Commission in your country with a paper application.

If you are eligible for an electronic visa – you can apply for an ETA (Electronic travel Authority) for 3 months stay in Aus.

Another option is to apply for a Tourist visa, Subclass 676 which allows you to stay in Aus for 3 – 12 months but you can’t work.

The Working holiday visa is valid for 12 months and starts from the date that you arrive in Australia. It allows you to work for one employer for up to 6 months. Also, you can get a second working holiday visa if you worked in an agriculural or horticultural position for more than 3 months (eg. fruit picking) during your first 12 months.

Also, you can apply for a student visa to study for a qualification in Australia. You can apply online electronically if you are from an eligible country and if you have a confirmation of enrolment certificate from the Aussie University or College. If you are not eligible to apply electronically, then you need to apply to the Australian High Commission.

You can apply for these visas directly from the Department of Immigration or from our website:

OK, lots of questions for anyone that has already been on the NZ Grand Explorer tour…First is whether there is enough time in Waitomo to do both the Zorb and the Skyline/Luge activites? And what about in Rotorua – is there time to do both the Rock’N’Ropes and Huka Jet Boat? So many fun things to do and I’m not sure if there’s time to do them all!!!

OK, two more questions: in Queenstown if I do the Bungy Thrillogy (all 3 bungy places), is there a bungy bus that will take me to them all in one day? And lastly, the website for the Funyaks Dart River activity says to allow 9 hours from Queenstown – how is this done?

Thanks to anyone who is adventurous as me and also wanted to do EVERYTHING Big Grin

Hi

I am heading to Euope next year to visit my sister and I am thinking of doing the 8 day Egypt and Nile tour.

I did a contiki tour in Jan in the US and had an awesome time so I’m not worried about meeting people. I’m more concerned about arriving and departing Egypt on my own.

What is Egypt like for Single Women?

Thanks Smiler

Hi All – I’m looking for some advice;

I have just paid my deposit for San Fran in the New Year through Contiki. I have never travelled alone before, but hope I meet some nice people.

I spoke to both STA Travel and Contiki who both raved about the area that the hotel is in, and its safety levels and I just booked on the back of that, thinking that they wouldnt surely book anywhere dangerous.

However, just spent the day doing research to discover that many tourist and natives of San Fran say that Market and Tenderloin are some of the worst districts and should be avoided.

Im now pretty scared to be honest, Im travelling the day before the tour starts and leaving the day after so Im kind of worried about what I have read. Apparently lots of homeless, drug dealers and general crime. Over 100 reviews said to avoid market street in day and night, and thats where the hotel is.

Has anyone stayed in this area previously on Contiki tours? Or been on the San Fran New Year tour? Any Advice?

As someone who has never travelled alone before, its kind of freaked me out and any advice would be great,

Thanks,

Just wondering what it’s like to have 4 people sleeping in the same room. Is it crazy with no sleep at all, or is it better to book a single?

This is for the Beaches and Reefs tour.

Also, how many people are usually on this tour in April?

If any of you have experience with this, please let me know.

Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced troubles trying to buy a bus ticket by creditcard on the http://www.intercitycoach.co.nz/ website?

I’ve tried with an international phone number, no phone number and a NZ phone number but I always get the same answer “payment failed”.

This is really frustrating since I can’t get a ticket beforehand…. I’ve even tried emailing them two-three days ago but no reply. :-/

My husband and I are going to European discovery. WE are, however, arriving, 2 days early before our tour starts. WE are looking for things to do as well as a place to stay… does anyone have any suggestions. We will be arriving very early on Saturday morning.. is there anywhere to store luggage?

We are really excited for our trip. Thanks for your help

When you get to the top of the mountain, what kinds of things are there to do up there? Will everything at the top of the mountain have a fee?

EX. The Ice palace… Is there a charge to get in?
