I think I’m blind..
I read somewhere that the night before you leave you are suppose to book into a particular hotel [this is a european trip]
But now I cant find where I saw that…
Can anyone link me? or tell me what hotel it was?

Also. With the trip documentation will it come before I leave australia? because I’m leaving next week and still have not recieved it…

any help will be great

This may be a really stupid question but I was just wondering if it is essential to take a beach towel. It does take up quite a bit of room in the suitcase but im thinking i will need one for white water rafting, and when at French Riviera etc.
Some advice from past travellers would help!

With all this talk on buying bottles of wine and schnapps etc i was just wondering about how’d you go with bringing it back into australia?

i know we can bring in 2.25litres duty free, but if i bring more than that will i have to pay duty on the whole lot? Will I have to pay duty if i post it home???

Hi Everyone,

My tour goes for 25 days in July.

Savings = AUD$4500
Optionals = AUD$400
Credit Card = AUD$3000

I have three days in London before I depart and am staying with friends, plan on eating light and have one night out.

Before I go I’m going to exchange AUD$300 for approx 125 GBP for my time in London.

And exchange AUD$2000 for approx 1200 Euro which will be about 1000 Euro to take in my money belt after optionals are paid. I’m going to make any big purchases on my credit card which is linked to my ATM account via internet banking so I plan to pay off my credit card at internet cafe’s as I go to keep credit spendings on track.

I do want to buy souvineers on tour however as I will be staying for another 6 months after the tour with plans to travel around Europe with my friend and work in the UK with my work Visa, I realise that I can go back for certain things if I spend more than expected..

I was wondering if anyone could let me know if my budgeting sounds right??? It is my first Europe trip so I have no idea what I’m in for. I leave in a week so it better be ok.. or at least close!! HELP PLEASE! I would be greatful for any comments, advice or suggestions anyone may have!

Thanks,

Kelly

So ive been reading the Forum and i am leaning towards the Magic tour

1. Accomidation:
Magic 9 hotels
Horizon: 2 nights in Contiki’s exclusive Swiss Chalet, 1 night in Contiki’s exclusive Austrian Gasthof, 3 nights in comfortable cabins in Contiki’s own villages, 2 nights in hotels & 1 night in a hostel
How comfortable are the Chalets, Gastof anf Cabins? and do i need a sleeping bag?

2. Food: Food at hotel vs food at village/hostel……

3. Horizon is a day longer

4. Winter vs summer, id like to go in winter but i dont want to freeze my ass off… any benifts to winter over summer?

I dont know which one???

Hey i need help.

Im having trouble with the whole concept of packing light. 80% of people say they wished they had packed lighter or say they do pack light. If we get 20 kg limit how many kg’s is packing light? is it 10kg, 15kg? and how do i decide what to leave at home?

My problem lies in that i don’t want to be wearing the same few tops in all the photos. As it stands my suitcase is around the 17kg mark including sleeping bag. My suitcase empty weighs 5 kg. Im taking limited shoes too. It all comes down to how many tops i want to take (im only taking 1 jumper and a jacket that im wearing over). im only taking like 3 pairs of pants (no skirts or shorts).

Oh also my medicines weigh lots (stuff like antibiotics, gastrostop, maxolon etc) and i can’t take them out of the box because you need the boxes. and i need to take full bottles of shampoo/cond as im going away for 6 weeks.

Please help me pack lighter. What items did you leave behind and why? how did you decide? or should i just be gratefull that im under 20 kg and take everything i planned on?

Hi all. If you please give me a little advice it would be appreciated.

After I do my contiki tour I’m statying in Europe for a little while and travelling to a few places that I would have mised and want to go to.

I have been looking around at different ways to travel. Has anyone used the Eurail passes. How did you find using the trains and ease of booking etc.

Also, how wide spread is english used in Europe. Will I have a problem explaining to people what I need.

Cheers

I’m flying into London around noon in June. How long should I expect it to take to get out of the airport and to my hotel? Are there a lot of lineups involved (customs, etc.)?

Hi, I’m hoping to go on the Grand Explorer either late March or late April… does anyone know what the weather would be like? Would late April be getting cold yet?
Also, what’s the accommodation like? I’m not fussy, just curious…
Thanks in advance if you can help!

Does the carry on stay on the bus when we go around places during the day? Also, What if i buy a lot and go over my weight limit for my luggage on the way back? SHoudl i deliberately underpack so i dont run into this problem….Please tell me what you did Smiler THANKS LOVES I really appreciate any input

I’ve been told that while travelling in London and using the tube you can buy passes basd on regions you would like to see. Should I get a geberal one to get from Heathrow to the Royal National and then get another pass which emcompasses more areas or should I get one that’s for more areas from the beginning. Also, what areas should I get it for if I want to see the general things (stay mostly in the central area). Is there a specific name/colour/number code for all the different types of passes you can get?

Thanks!
