I’ve been reading up about what there is to do in Queenstown, and I came across this website for canyoning:
http://www.canyoning.co.nz/
It looks really fun and something that I’d be interested in doing. I don’t see it on the list of Contiki optionals though, so I was just wondering how easy it is to do this sort of stuff on your own. Like is it best to book it ahead of time or should I just wait until I’m on the trip to see if anyone else would be interested in going? I’m just worried that by booking ahead it would limit me in what other optionals I could do in Queenstown (particularly I want to do skydiving and white water rafting).

Just putting it out there,
Is it a good idea/bad idea to bring a mobile phone with you,
I’m going on a 21 day tour + a week on my own..
if so .. any tips on sim cards etc.
thinking of bringing mine, on global roaming – mostly for texting loved ones etc..
any feedback would be great :-)

Hey Guys,
I was just reading the new brochures for the 2010 tours and it says in there that there is now a Contiki Hotel in Downtown LA (Kyoto Grand Hotel), as well as the Best Western Stovall’s in Anaheim, and also that there are now 3 New York Hotels (Milford Plaza, Hotel Beacon, and Skyline Hotel). Im a little bit confused as to which hotel I should be booking at. Does anyone know what hotels most people stay at? And do they do pickups from all of the hotels? Any info anyone has would be great…

Hi,
Im doing the Great Britain tour in July next year, and i have 3 days in London before it. So i was just wondering what sites i will see enough of on the tour, and which i should be sure to visit in London before the tour. I will have no free time in London afterwards, so i really dont want to miss anything.
Thanks

Just got the worst news ever yesterday that our tour that we planned for nearly 2 years has been cancelled and we were set for departure in under 10 weeks. We have made so many other plans around this tour that we are restricted with what we can do without losing too much money. Basically have 3 weeks in UK to find something else ? What to do ?

ok this could be classed as one of those “stupid questions which everyone should know the answer to” but hey im gonna ask it anyway since im a newbie to this flying thing!
ive received conflicting info by everyone….
* do you take snacks for yourself onto the plane (like lollies, chewys, crisps/chips (would love to take fruit but i dont think you could))
* or do you buy them on the plane
* or are they just served to you?
im flying singapore airlines (and ive looked on their website to no avail) since the flight from australia to rome is like ova 12hrs im figuring i might get hungry or bored or something… please help!

I heard that Contiki provides sleeping bags for people from the US. I was wondering if 1) its true 2) are the sleeping bags decent ones?

Hey guys…me again
Well, I think I’ve decided to do both the explorer tours in Aust and NZ, however…now for the next question…browsing through these forums, I’ve come across a few conflicting opinions on which is better for the Aussie explorer…Darwin to Sydney or Sydney to Darwin. Any advice or feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kimera

Hey guys. I’ve read a few posts on here and it seems like the whole money thing is pretty complicated. I’m heading to Europe in June and was just planning on bringing my debit and credit cards (Visa) and having as little cash on me as possible.
What is the problem with this? I’d been advised by someone who’s been to Europe before that this is the best idea, but for some reason I’ve been getting different impressions on here.

I heard that, at least for Canadians (based on our government site www.voyage.gc.ca) NZ customs and immigration like to see that you have at least $1,000 NZ Dollars. Has anyone else heard/experienced this. Also, do they want a letter from your bank, credit card statements etc?

I’m from the states so can somebody tell me when the best time of year for a NZ tour?
