Hi there,
I am thinking of going to NZ next July.
Should I take the Grand Explorer or the Grand Explorer Reverse?
How is the weather in NZ in July? Is it like European winter with lot´s of snow?
How long is a worth to stay in Auckland and Christchurch? More than 2 days?
Any suggestions about the flight connection from Germany to NZ?
Thanks for your help!!!

I’m going on the Egypt and the Nile tour in August, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much money they spent on their trip. I’m just trying to figure out my budget!
Thanks!

Hey everyone! My husband and I are looking to book our first Contiki trip to Egypt this fall and were wondering if anyone knew the cost of traveller’s insurance for the 9 day tour. Anybody have positive or negative experiences with the insurance offered through Contiki?
Thanks so much!

Hi All,
I’m heading on a tour on Dec 29th
I just want to know about bag restrictions. I know you can’t have a suitcase heavier than 20kg which is fine; but I’m going to have a carry on suitcase as well (small size) are we allowed to put these under the bus or carry them on board or is there a strict 1 suitcase per person only?
I did a tour in the US/Canada in 2007 and I had 2 suitcases both 20kgs in size and there were no issues putting them on the bus but I hear Europe is more strict about these requirments?
Cheers,
Ryan

Im looking at doing the spanish spree tour in August, and so am doing some reasearch with flights etc, and CANNOT find a flight that leaves Ibiza in the month of August. What am i doing wrong? Has anyone who is doing that tour booked their flights out of Ibiza already, and if so where did you find the flights?

Hey,
I am doing the Grand Adventurer tour and was wondering if I could get some advice off others who have been on taking a laptop along. I have looked up some of the accommodation options and noticed some have access to internet and some, (eg. Queenstown Lodge) probably don’t. There is also the issue of leaving it behind when we go on the Milford Sound Boat trip. Do you think it is worth taking? I would LOVE to be able to keep in contact with people over facebook and post pics up and stuff of the day!

Hi everyone,
I am thinking about doing Greek Island Hopping 5/4/08-5/17/08. Seems like you are on your own for transfers from the airport and back. Any suggestions…taxi, shuttle, etc. Also, if my friend backs out on me, I might be going on my own. Anyone going on this trip would like to chat before hand? John

turns out, ill be arriving at gatwick instead of heathrow when i get to london.. =(
anyways, ive done my homework searching for ways to reach the RN and ive found the following:
-gatwick express/tube: combine the gatwick express train thingie taking you to Victoria Station, head for Greek Park Station and then change lines heading towards Russel Square Station. 15 pounds for gatwich express + 7 (or 8?) for the london tube ticket. Grand total: 22 pounds.
-thameslink: follow the signs of the National Rail (or so) and get into the Thameslink one. drops you off near King’s Cross station, which is a walkable distance away from the RN. thing is, its not a very safe zone when its dark, and taking in mind ill be arriving at 7 in the morning and will be lugging around a suitcase all over the place… Price: 8 pounds.
-hotelink: head to their counter right after customs and buy a ticket. they guide you to the gatwick express train, tell which one to board, and meet you at victoria station, where theyll take you to your hotel. no guessing, no hassles. 24 pounds.
whew. told ya ive done my research.. =)
anyways, at first i was inclining towards the gatwick express+tube option. then i heard about thameslink and was, “hey! thats a whola lot cheaper!” then i was presented hotelink. its a bit more expensive than gatwick+tube (2 pounds. oh.), yet they take care of absolutely everything.
has anyone done any of these? is kings cross not that bad? is taking your luggage around teh different tube stations not that much? is 24 pounds for being spoon fed for getting to ones hotel too much?
plus, for those who have done hotelink, is advanced booking absolutely required and could you just show up and buy the ticket?
not taking prices into account, what would be your suggestions, comments?
any experiences?
PS
im sorry if this thread turned out to be, well, rather long.
heh.

Anyone looking at November 07 for Europe? I’m leaning towards European Inspiration leaving Nov 3. I’ll be going solo and hoping to find some others before I go. I realize winter isn’t the most popular time to be in Europe. But I was in Spain last year in late October and the weather was so gorgeous!
Also, I’m 28 and I’ve worked full-time since I graduated 8 years ago. I’ll be quitting my job and ‘starting over’ so to say, and this trip will be the beginning of my travels for a year or so. Would love to hear from anyone in a similar situation!!

I’m thinking about going on one of the European tours..possibly European Inspiration… How much money A day will i be spending? This includes the meals i will need to pay for on my own and the night life. ??? The FAO on the contiki website says about $60 dollars a day but i just wanted to ask someone who actually experienced it. I’m hoping to go on a tour July 2008!

Hi going to Europe/UK July/August this year got couple random questions if anyone can help
- Jeans ok with a nice shirt/black shoes for guys going out at night? or do they need black pants?
- You can spend alot of time in London but anyone suggest rough idea to see the main sites in height of summer (with the long lines)?
- Best shopping in London for sort of midrange (not really high end designer but not budget chain store either)

Hey guys,
I was just wondering what you guys though of this High Sierra bag as my main luggage? http://highsierrasport.com/ItemDetail?itemNum=AT459
Would it be ridiculously big to the point they’d take out the tape measure? Would the 26" model be too small?
Is 5kg a significant amount for weight? What were your suitcase’s base weights, before stuff?
I’m doing the European Panorama June 2, so I’ll be away for about 30 days. I also like to buy stuff
Just trying to find a good balance b/w size and not breaking the weight limit.
Thank you!
