Ultimate Ski NZ - Packing and gen advise

Hi All Im going to queenstown July 22 - 28 and have never skiid before or traveled alone on a contiki. Can anyoe recommend anything? i.e. somewhere to visit, what i need to wear like in queenstown do i need special shoes to walk or ski gear (ski pants and jacket) or can i wear runners and jeans. Any advise on the best mountain to hit and any ski advice. And has anyone stayed at the Aspen on Queenstown. does it have heaters in the room or floor heating. it=s the acommodation nice? im sharing in quad. Thankyou in Avance for any avice anyone can provide
