Hey. How much money did you use per pay on the tour. Food? Souvenirs?? I'm also from South Africa so planning on budgeting really early to save up

ooh flip .. that's a tough question that depends on how many optional extras you're doing (as you pay for those before hand) and what you intend doing on your free days (e.g. we went to museums etc. so we had to budget for that - but try and find savings where you can e.g. check what days you are in a place and see if the museums have a free day etc.) also this was ages ago and we were pretty frugal only buying tiny gifts and eating our own dinners on occasion (they provide the dinners as part of the package). Our total trip was about R40 000 (the plane ticket takes up a good 1/4 of that) and I think we took about R5000 rand's worth of spending money (which doesn't count for much with the exchange rate) but I'd definitely get a card rather than cash (for safety). Hope that helps. It's a trip of a lifetime - it's worth the money!
