Hi there, just found a post you wrote about shoes for Inca Trail (that didn't have any responses). I'm doing it next year and just wondered what shoes you went with and how you found it when you went? Thanks.

I bought a pair of Merell hiking shoes . Basically, I don't think that you need anything more then crosstrainers - one of the girls was wearing a pair of Toms and she did fine. Just pick something you can walk around in all day any you will be fine. Oh yeah, plan to get sick - everyone on my tour got sick at least once. I got sick on the third day I was religious with the sanitation. Apart from that part the tour was amazing!

What sort of boots best for Inca Trail in May

I'm having trouble deciding between a hiking shoe or boot for my May 19 Peru uncovered departure. I'm leaning towards shoes because they would be my main footware for the entire trip, and I think boots might be too hot for Lima. Does anybody have any recommendations or experience?
