Thanks Laura! I am from Quebec Montreal. I will be going on the European discovery tour starting April 27th :) I can't wait! That's for the tip about the prepaid travel card! I will have to see if RBC has that option...it's a good point to not overspend with the prepaid travel card~ Will you be going on a tour with Contiki soon? Thanks so much again for your reply :)

No problem! Oh fun! I was on European Escapade two summers ago and had a blast! They actually go to a lot of the same places, I'm actually writing an overview/review of that trip, if you want to check it out, it should be up on my travel blog http://lauraineurope.livejournal.com/ in the next few days! My family is from Quebec as well, from Lachute actually. I saw someone else posted regarding the cash passport, I definitely considered it, some had it on our trip, I just found the prepaid easier, but to each his own! RBC does have one I know, a few other banks provide them, there are lots of blogs regarding the best cards online. I am actually going on the Great Britain and Ireland tour at the end of June, I am really looking forward to it!

Hey Laura, thanks for your reply :) For some reason I was not able to reply on the thread so I hope you won't mind I message you on your wall :) I see you mentioned about prepaid credit card...how does that card works and where did u get it? I know if I use my credit card in Europe, I will have to pay some fees but is that similar to the prepaid card? Thanks :)

hi! no problem! You can get a prepaid card from various banks, I ended up with the BMO prepaid travel card because it was recommended to me by someone on this website actually, and has the best 'review' on the internet. I did have a credit card and debit on me, but I liked using the prepaid because I could control what was on it so if anyone gained access to the account they could only take so much, instead of access to the credit of debit :S. Also, a lot of people on my trip overspent on their credit cards MASSIVELY, the prepaid kind of keeps you in check with your budget. I would generally transfer money to my prepaid every 1.5 weeks or so on a computer, then take that out at an atm the next day, and that was what I would have for the next week and a bit. There is a fee for the currency conversion, but same as a credit card. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions feel free to contact me
