The Bahamas is the ‘Official Home of the Swimming Pigs‘ with many travellers from all over the world visiting Big Major Cay, home to “Pig Beach.” Here you can snorkel with anything from tropical fish, sea turtles to stingrays and of course – cute little pigs.

Although locals are unsure of how the pigs made their way to live on Big Major cay, popular lore suggests that the pigs were dropped by a group of sailors who actually wanted to eat them. Others believe they may have come from a nearby shipwreck and swam to safety.

Point is, The Bahamas are super proud of being the official home of the swimming pigs. After all, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience complete with beautiful white beaches, lavish resorts, hotels and fine dining. Call it what you want, but it’s a dreamy destination for travellers.
