The 10 Best Things From Splendour In The Grass 2017

Splendour in the Grass is officially over for another year (*cries in the corner*). Contiki took 250 campers to Byron Bay to enjoy the music festival and as always, it was a pretty special three days during which we collected memories that will keep us warm until next year. Here are the best things that happened at Splendour 2017...

Powderfinger Reuniting At Bernard Fanning

After seven years without a performance from Powderfinger, Bernard Fanning invited 4/5 members of his iconic band onto the stage to jam. Tears were shed by the happy crowd at the once in a lifetime reunion (sadly Bernard confirmed there’s no plans for more sweet, sweet music together).

All The Glitter

If Splendour in the Grass had a theme this year, it was glitter. From face glitter to glittery outfits, everywhere you looked there were sparkles. Boys embraced the trend as much as girls, rocking the glitter beards to perfection after visiting one of the many glitter stations (the Contiki campsite even had its own, thanks to some very talented campers).

The Dune Rats Riding Dirt Bikes Onto The Stage

The Dunie’s set was wild in all the best possible ways. Heck, they rode in on dirt bikes to the screams of thousands and thousands of fans, so it could really only go up from there.

Why not ride a ???? on stage at #SITG2017 @dunerats? ????: @ian.laidlaw & @savvyv

Tina Arena Joining Client Liaison's Set

Anyone who watched Client Liaison’s set was left truly shook when THE Tina Arena casually strolled onto stage and started belting out her old school bangers. ‘Sorrento Moon’ went off, ‘Feed the Rhythm’ went off… our hearts went off!

This Off White Limousine Also Showing Up To Client Liaison

Obviously we’re high key obsessed with Client Liaison, so when this off white limousine drove through the Contiki campsite before making its way to the show, we were beyond excited. Naturally the boys got a massive shoutout from the band for their dedication. 10/10 costume game!

Peking Duk Being Introduced By Dale From 'The Castle'

Turns out Dale (AKA Stephen Curry) from classic Aussie movie The Castle is a huge Peking Duk fan. In a show-stopping (well, starting) move, he introduced the band to the Splendour crowd and *caution* there’s swearing, but prepare to have your favourite worlds collide.

Bouncing Inside Happy Kanye

We’re sure you’ve seen the giant inflatable Happy Kanye face and rainbow, right? Well, did you know that if you went inside his huge mug and it was actually a jumping castle? #EPIC

Airling's Private Performance At The Contiki Campsite

We treated our Contiki campers to an exclusive performance by Airling on the Sunday morning and she was breathtaking! Her angelic voice was exactly what everyone needed after some late nights. Posing with fans, bringing the grade-A banter and leaking Meg Mac’s set list, yep, Airling is welcome back in our campground EVERY year!

Wonderful exclusive performance by Airling! #sitg17 #contikisitg

The ~Fashun~

Is it even a festival if you don’t dress up? As always, there was some AMAZING and certainly memorable looks at Splendour in the Grass. We saw a light up skirt, the entire Teletubbies crew,  and an IKEA bag romper. Someone call Karl Lagerfeld, he needs to meet these guys.

Dr Karl Singing Karaoke In The Contiki Tiki Bar

This is not a drill. Dr Karl Kruszelnicki came on down to our Hawaiian themed Contiki Tiki Bar and belted out a very fitting rendition of ‘Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)’. This is a very important moment for every Australian who has ever listened to Dr Karl explain their science questions in an understandable way. We <3 you, Dr Karl!
