Arrive BilbaoMake your way to Bilbao, where it’s hola & welcome to sunny Spain! Make tracks to our start hotel where you’ll check-in & meet our Contiki team. If you’ve arrived early, maybe check out the line-up of gigs & get out amongst the action in Bilbao – this city goes off! Tonight, we’ll get the trip started off right with some local Spanish food & drinks as you get to know your festival buddies & get ready for a few awesome days ahead!
BilbaoAfter breakfast we’ll get you in the know with a tour of the city’s sights, then there’s time for you to discover more of Bilbao. From its famous modern & contemporary art museum - Museo Guggenheim - to the cute Old Town, Casco Viejo, there’s loads to see. Later, we’ll get you kitted out with your festival wristband & head up to Kobetamendi Park, get stage-side & let the good times begin. Headlining this year are the Kings of Leon, plus with other confirmed acts including Green Day, Fatboy Slim, Editors, Biffy Clyro, Depeche Mode, The Hives, Two Door Cinema Club,(and many more), there’s loads to suit all tastes & this festival is going to rock! BilbaoIt’s time to get your festival on! We’ve left your breakfast time free over the next 2 days so you can hit the streets & find some local food at a time that suits you. Chill to the bands, work on your tan in your downtime, explore Bilbao or just kick back with new friends. Don’t forget to ask your Tour Manager where the best places are to head to for some authentic & delicious Spanish cuisine & where the best places to party are. If you feel like a break from the bands you could head to town & into the Museo Guggenheim for a look at this architectural wonder, or hit the Old Town to stroll the alleys and check out the cute little shops to pick up some souvenirs. There’s a funicular train too, with a short 3 minute ride taking you to Artxanda hill for the city’s best views. Heading out into the streets to explore is essential in Bilbao - there are loads of cool little restaurants & cafés around – like El Boxto Café at 2 Santos Juanes Street. We love indulging in the incredible flavours of Spain – trying patatas bravas (fried potatoes in a spicy sauce) & tortilla española is an absolute must, washed down with some authentic sangria, of course!
Depart BilbaoToday, it's time to farewell Spain & the festival fun of Bilbao – so swapping email, Facebook & Twitter addresses is a must. If you’ve got some spare time before your flight, then get local & head to the lively Sunday market in Plaza Nueva – it’s a total haven for the bargain hunter & the perfect spot to pick up some treats & treasures.
