Get ready for the adrenalin pumping experience: the population of Pamplona explodes for this 9 day party, known as San Fermín, with around 350,000 travellers heading to this usually quiet town to experience a slice of the bull running action for themselves. On arrival check in to your hotel, meet your Tour Manager and fellow tour mates & head out to soak up the atmosphere. The vibe here is electric, and so your Tour Manager will offer you an orientation of the town before you get amongst the festivities yourself!
PamplonaGet the party started this morning & live it like a local! Play a part in this 400 year old tradition, where bulls are let loose through the city streets. Don your red & white gear if you're game enough to get amongst it - or steer clear as a spectator - the vibes are just as exciting. After the run, the rest of the day is free for you to do as you wish. Check out the "Gigantes y Cabezudos" (Giants & Big Heads procession) or head down to Plaza de los Fueros for a look at some Basque rural sports, like stone lifting and wood cutting. Maybe check out a bull fight one evening or just hang around town for a couple of cocktails and soak up the atmosphere - this party is awesome, so let the good times roll!
Pamplona to BilbaoThis morning, it's time to move onto the next exciting festival. Mid-morning, we leave Pamplona and make our way to Bilbao. Later, we’ll get you kitted out with your festival wristband & head up to Kobetamendi Park, get stage-side & let the good times begin. Headlining this year are the Kings of Leon, plus with other confirmed acts including Green Day, Fatboy Slim, Editors, Biffy Clyro, Depeche Mode, The Hives, Two Door Cinema Club,(and many more), there’s loads to suit all tastes & this festival is going to rock! Thousands flock to Bilbao for the festival every year, and 2013 will be no exception. There's something for everyone, so get geared up for fun with fellow festival goers, great food & even better beats.
BilbaoFor the next 2 days, wake up & start the day when you want, explore Bilbao or just kick back and get ready for more good times. Your Tour Manager will be on hand to give you an orientation tour of the city and let you know where the best places are to head to for some authentic & delicious Basque cuisine & where the best places to party are. You could also head to the Guggenheim Museum for a look at this architectural wonder or the Old Town to stroll the alleys and check out the cute little shops to pick up some souvenirs. Over these 2 days, the festival will include many awesome live acts. Spend the final festival evening partying & dancing & get out amongst the action.
Depart BilbaoToday, it's time to farewell Spain & the festival fun of Bilbao – so swapping email, Facebook & Twitter addresses is a must. If you’ve got some spare time before your flight, then get local & head to the lively Sunday market in Plaza Nueva – it’s a total haven for the bargain hunter & the perfect spot to pick up some treats & treasures.
