Firstly the trip started in London and we got to see a few sights (I'd recommend that you do atleast 2 days in London alone before contiki) We then headed off to Liverpool, York, Gretna Green, Edinburgh, lake districts (lake Windermere) where we did a high ropes course which was a must!! and my highlight: LOCHNESS! We then headed to Scottish Highlands, aisle of Skye, Oban and lastly to Glasgow! (Here you can join onto the Ireland leg too)
Accommodation: everything was 3Star and had wifi, great bathrooms and very comfortable
Food: Hotel breakfasts are amazing!! Take full advantage of these... We stopped pretty often for bathroom breaks and food. Basically go where the trip manager advises
Crew: Ed and Derek were amazing!! Make the most of the knowledge the crew give you
Your mates: the absolute best! I honestly wasn't too sure if a single traveller would fit in or make friends, but everyone honestly becomes very close and you also get a roommate which helps, but put yourself out there! It's the best way to be noticed and make friends, especially on the bus, take an interest in what people do and their lives
I loved all the moments and cannot pick my favourite, apart from making friends that I'll stay in contact with for life

As a young professional, I love Contiki tours. In my opinion, they are the best way to maximize your precious vacation days by packing as much sightseeing & culture into every moment! This tour was no different - as England & Scotland cover a relatively small geographic area, Contiki did their best to ensure the majority of our days were spent seeing amazing sites and taking in the beautiful scenery. Instead of stopping at rest stops along the highway, our bus stopped at small towns along the way for a few hours to break up our drive, grab a bite to eat & take in the culture. The inclusions & the Me Time Optionals were carefully curated to ensure that our time was not wasted on anything that we would not enjoy. I highly recommend this tour, it was one of the best trips of my life!

This was my first contiki trip but not my first time traveling alone to Europe. I booked this trip based on the fact that I didn't have to drive myself anywhere, book tickets, and figure out what I needed to see. Safe to say that when it was time for me to go home I didn't want to leave!
I had an awesome tour manager Faye and driver Walter. Probably the most hilarious duo ever. I liked the fact that Faye wasn't a tour guide but a manager and that she knew where to go based on her personal experience with the areas we traveled to like what to eat, where to eat, what to see, etc.
I did all the available Me time options, which were fantastic but also bring money/be prepared for some extra things that aren't listed but are a must see like going in to cliffords tower, Eilean Donon castle, sterling castle (just a few that I could remember). All of the Me times were worth it though, great way to get to know the people on your trip better. The way I saw it was hey, how many times in my life will I do this!
The hotels were great, my only suggestion would be to make sure you get a room with someone who is similar to yourself or switch to achieve that or pay the extra money for a single room. I paid for a shared room hoping that I would make a friend right off the get go. My roommate changed on the second night and stayed the same for the rest of the trip. It was not ideal as we were polar opposites and switching was not an option. In the end I tried to spend as little time in the room as I could, which most people do anyway.
Another suggestion would be if you want to see or get more out of the London part of the trip show up a few days early. The time in London is short and all done in the coach as a drive by.
Make sure to save some money to tip your guides and drivers, they will go above and beyond to make sure you have an unforgettable experience.
I would 100% recommend doing a contiki trip, I was home less than 24 hrs and already looking at other trips I could do for next year!

I was a little nervous when I decided to travel internationally for the first time all by myself but when I found Contiki I was a little better with the idea. I arrived in London early to do some sightseeing and met up with some people from the trip who I had talked to previously on the meetup site and Facebook. I am so glad I decided to go alone! The people I met and the experiences we shared were unlike anything I ever thought would happen! We had by far the best tour manager, Faye, and the most badass coach driver, Max H! These two were great and worked really well together and made everyday fun and worth the occasional early morning! I've already picked out my next trip and some of the people from this trip are going! Lifelong friends I'd say! The hotels were decent(you aren't in them long), the breakfasts are hotel breakfasts but get you through the morning, the coach is comfortable, and do the optional me times! We did all of them and they were great!

This was my first time to Europe and the first time traveling by myself. I could not have had a better first time experience with Contiki!!!! I had a great time with everyone and we had a great tour manager, Tim and an awesome bus driver, Max.
Every day was fun and the nights where so much fun! Almost every night we went out, Liverpool, Carlisle, Edinburgh(x2), Oban and Glasgow!!!
When you go to Loch Ness you have to jump in just to say you have done it!!! It was freezing cold but lots of fun!
I would recommend arriving in London a day or two before the tour starts if you wan to do some sight seeing. I didn't do that and didn't get time to see London except for the bus tour.

I am typically a solo traveler...I like my space and to move at my own speed, but this trip totally changed my mind. The people on the trip, our awesome tour manager and driver and the amazing landscapes and sites of England and Scotland blew my mind. This will not be my last Contiki tour.

Since I've been home, I've been asked by almost everyone what my favorite part of the trip was. I've responded "The whole thing, I can't choose just one!", every time.
This trip fully exceeded my expectations. It was my first big trip and I traveled alone from the U.S. to London. My roommate was the only other American girl on the tour and we ended up being best friends. Everyone on tour was amazing and it was so interesting to see where everyone was from and where they have been.
Our tour manager, James, was the best! He did everything for us to make sure we had the time of our lives. He truly looked like a graceful swan on a lake but underneath he was paddling like crazy to make sure everything was perfect. He knew the best spots in every town and was great at telling us the history of each place we went to. I couldn't imagine doing another tour without him, he was so great! Chris, our coach driver, was also amazing. He had the best (and most random) music that would play on the bus and would always have us all laughing, dancing, or just kept us in great moods. Between the two of them and their awesome personalities, they made the trip.
All of the included activities were great. All of the optional activities are a must. Just do them. What have you got to lose? If you go home broke, but happy... it's worth it. I promise. Making memories with the great people you'll be surrounded by is far more important and worth it. The ghost walk tour in York, the high ropes course in Keswick, the Lake Windermere Cruise, Scottish evening in Edinburgh, Hadrian's Wall, and the Gretna Green group photo - they're all worth it.
The hotels were in prime location the majority of the time and were perfectly comfortable. We got breakfasts every morning and many included dinners (which were always delicious).
I honestly felt like I didn't waste one penny (or pence).Tip the tour guides that take their time to make your trip an even better experience! Each tour guide we had was great and interesting.
I cannot wait to take my next Contiki trip and I have already recommended this way of traveling to many friends. Thank you Contiki for such an amazing time!

Such a great trip, as it was my first contiki trip ever it did not disappoint in the least and resulted in me booking another trip shortly after returning home. I had reservations for it being such a short package and feared I wouldn't get to experience enough or see all the things I wanted to. But I was very happy with it and didn't feel shorted in the least. Of course there were places I would have liked to stay longer I still wouldn't have changed a thing either. The guide and driver were awesome and helped me find some of the best off the beaten path places and we're very knowledgeable for all the areas we visited. As for the group I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of people who I'm sure have become long time friends because of it. A few of my personal highlights had to be Edinburgh in general I loved, and I had the great pleasure of spending my birthday swimming in lochness and tasting a 107 year old Scotch! As the title says I'd recommend this to everyone who wants to see these places.

I LOVED this trip! I want to go back and think about it every once in a while. It was the perfect amount of touring and free time, with lots of people to go out with and friends for life. Advice: even if it is warm, bring a sweater during the day...the weather can change in an instant and be very cold, even during the summer!

I went on this trip almost a year ago now, and I still can't stop thinking about it. It was incredible. Everything lived up to my expectations and so much more!
I went by myself, at the ripe age of 18 (I was the youngest of the group but I couldn't tell). The trip opened my eyes to a completely new culture and introduced me to new people from all over the world who had similar goals and values as myself and with whom I generally just got on really well.
Like I said, it's been almost a year and I am still in contact with some of the friends I made on the trip.
The sights were beautiful, the trip was so well organized and sooooo much fun. The accomidations were really good, no complaints at all. Wifi is a little rought though.
Transportation was great, our bus driver was awesome. We spent a fair amount of time on the bus, but I found that that was where we bonded as a group a lot. We always had music going and we always switched up who we were sitting with so it was never boring. Also...just looking out the window will keep you pretty entertained.
I recently went to France by myself (not on a tour), and I found it qutie difficult. At this point in my life I much prefer a tour group and Contiki offered it all.
I find myself missing Contiki. The people, the energy, the experiences. I hope to book another trip very soon.

I did this trip back in 2011, and I had always wanted to see europe, england especially. I had the most amazing time of my life, and even though I went by myself I met some amazing people, some of which i still keep in touch with today. The tour manager Michelle was AMAZING and she went above and beyond to make sure we had / and saw everything possible. She even took the time to take us out to bars and whatnot whenever we had the chance. Same goes for our Tour driver Pete! He was super funny, and again went above and beyond for all of us to ensure our experience was amazing.
The best moments were probably getting a little tipsy at a pub in the middle of the day in a small town, and crashing a wedding in a hotel we were staying in.
I always recommend contiki to my friends, and I also recommend going by yourself if you can!

This is an Excellent trip. Our tour manager Sarah was good with the history and showed us the best places for different people. Shoppers, History buffs, ect. There is a lot to see and while in Scotland look out for the Harry Cows. Also don’t be late or you may have to sing to the whole bus.
I would recommend this trip to anyone with British or Scottish heritage to go and see where your family and its history came from.
Over all, the trip is very enjoyable.

This trip was, without a doubt, the experience of a lifetime. I got so many opportunities to do things I never would have done, like standing on Hadrian's Wall or getting to see the Olympic Torch in Glasgow. My favorite moment was jumping into Loch Ness, something I wouldn't have even considered if it weren't for my tour manager and fellow tour mates. Even if you don't choose this tour, go somewhere with Contiki! I guarantee that you will have the time of your life :)
