DAY 1 - Arrive Bankok
Bangkok
Welcome to Bangkok fellow globe roamers, where a trip packed with Asia explorations lie ahead of us. After checking into our swanky hotel you may wish to do some DIY exploring, grab a massage or just lie by the pool soaking up those sweet Thai rays. Later the group will join forces to hear what's in store for the trip, then the night is yours. Maybe take to the streets for some authentic pad thai and eye-popping nightlife, or jump in a tuk-tuk and hit the buzzy Patpong Night Market, with its neon lights and vibrant street life.
Stay
Nuovo City Hotel (or similar)
DAY 2 - Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
Bangkok
The Royal Palace and its 61 acres of incredible buildings will be number one on today's to do list. We'll start the day early, with so much to see there's no time to waste. We'll start with a tour of the klongs (canals) and some fish feeding, as well as watching locals go about their day and living life along the river. Just listing today's sites gives us the butterflies, and we'll take it all in with our Local Guide leading the charge. Armed with more Local knowledge than we know what to do with, get ready for ME Time. From shopping, grabbing a massage to indulding in delicious local eats, this afternoon is gearing up to be brilliant.

Kanchanaburi
Bangkok, you've been a dream, but the show must go on! Fast becoming a must-visit in this part of the world, we make tracks to our next destination, the sleepy town of Kanchanaburi to really get local. We jump straight into the way of life here, visiting sites including learning about the darker times past at the WWII Cemetery and the famed Bridge on the River Kwai, with our guide giving us all the info we need on this riverside spot steeped in history. There's nothing like getting some local transport to keep things interesting, so we'll pop into a boat along the River Kwai where we'll reach our home for the night, the The Jungle Raft Hotel, Kanchanaburi. Rooms lit by candle light are what you'll be greeted with, followed by a delicious included dinner of local specialities at dusk. You can even jump in the river directly from your room. Amazing! Because of course here at Contiki we like to keep things a bit special. Tonight as we watch the sunset over the landscape we'll no doubt be toasting our first full day on the trip and contemplating just how good life is.

The Northern Thai Highlights was absolutely worth the cost. The trip was fast-paced with everything planned out. The elephant sanctuary was so amazing. The add-ons were great, but consider skipping a couple if you want to explore on your own, which I highly recommend!

If you have backpacked Europe...but perhaps was not sure of your solo skills in Asia this trip was that for me. I absolutly loved every moment I was in Thialand. I recommend going down a day or 2 early because I feel like through just contiki you barely get a taste of bangkok and then you move on. Also know that if you do the 7 days in thialand you will be one of few as most people continued on with the bigger trip and went to loas and Cambodia... Which looked amazing from pictures... And made me rather jelous. I had 2 nights in bangkok before contiki and really enjoyed it...I think it was a great price overall for the trip and extras and you get so much for what you pay. Thialand was cheap once you got there...so everything seemed within budget and rather affordable. The guides are great and the variety of activities and types of activities are spaced out nicely and lots of options. What I liked most is we seemed to go from an upbeat atmosphere to a relaxed one then upbeat then relaxed...it was so nicely balanced that way. The Elephant sactuary and jungle raft obviously the highlights. I continued onto chain Ria and Loas for the evening the day after my contiki trip ended and then spend the last 2 days roaming and relaxing in chaing mia. I went solo... And dont regret it! Great ..ppl great culture...great architecture...food...connections...love!

It has everything culture, great food, night life, great waterfalls: I fell in love it keeps you busy but you also have down time. I truly enjoyed the day with the elephants it was magical. The night in the jungle rafts it forces you to disconnect from everything we spend the night at the bar singing songs with this man playing the guitar it was a beautiful experience: one of the guides invited all of us to his house to have dinner it was so amazing to walk into a home and have a authentic meal. It was honestly one of my best experiences. The night markets are close to the hotels which is amazing I felt safe the whole time.

Hotels were way beyond a typical contiki. Nightlife was amazing bars close at 12 but our guide showed us where to go so we could keep the party going. Do the cooking class optional ! The cook is funny and speaks perfect English and it makes for a fun evening and the food is amazing

The things I saw and learnt about the country was educational.. the people were so kind. The country is beautiful. I’m a big fan of people making the place and that’s what they did. It’s ritch In culture the tour and tour guide were amazingly full on :) This tour was full of lots of things to do every day and they thrive on including things for everyone and I believe they would’ve achieved their goal

The tour had me wanting more! when I finished my 7 days of Thailand and knew so many of the others were continuing on to other countries all I wanted to do was go with them and not go back to the reality of work and university. Everywhere we stayed was different and had its perks, the care for animals, people and the environment Contiki encourages is also amazing!
