With one very common reason for being on this trip, bonding will be particularly easy today when our group joins forces. Check into our hotel anytime after 2pm, then do a bit of exploring of this unique city that joins Asia and Europe. Get to know the city in your own time today, take a stroll around the colourful Spice Markets, or head to one of the city's famous rooftop bars for a drink while watching the sunset. Top tip, the kebabs here really are better than anywhere else, as well as eating your weight in Turkish Delight! Tonight, get to know your group as we meet for a chat about the days ahead.
Spirits stay high today as we explore the fascinating cross continental city of Istanbul. On our guided tour we'll weave our way through the 20,000 hand painted tiles of the Blue Mosque and uncover the 1,500 years of history within the walls of the Hagia Sofia mosque. During your free evening, enjoy an optional traditional dinner where you can feast on Turkish favourites like pastries, eggplant, lamb stews while belly dancers show you their skills. Finish it off with a dose of Istanbul's nightlife for those feeling wide-eyed - we love the Cihangir district for cute cocktail bars and dancing the night away.
Our pilgrimage commences this morning as we drive out of Istanbul in the direction of Gallipoli, where we'll be paying tribute to the fallen tonight. This experience can only be descibed as peaceful, where we're sure to remember the horrors of 1915 at this historical spot.
Tonight we have the incredible privilege of camping out under the stars at ANZAC Cove, where World War I troops first landed. Tomorrow we'll find ourselves up before the sun joining the somber salute of the annual dawn service, which will no doubt be one of the most memorable experiences of your lives.
The soul-stirring ANZAC Dawn Service will wake us before the sun does this morning. Shortly after, we'll walk in the footsteps of the soldiers who marched these very cliffs more than 100-years ago. Before heading back to Istanbul we will visit the Australian and New Zealand Memorial Service at Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair.
Back in Istanbul we'll feel like doing little more than diving into bed, the moving day of tribute and respect now etched in our memories forever.
After sharing a life-changing experience like this, we'll be a pretty tight knit group. Hug it out, exchange details, and make plans to reunite on more lighthearted terms some time soon.
