Austria Ski Only

The ski resort was fantastic - a large resort over several mountains with a wide range of slopes. Highly recommend the night skiing - was by far the highlight of the holiday.

This Contiki was amazing! I unfortunately was unable to be on the snow much (two fractured wrists on the first day - WEAR WRIST GUARDS!) but the Contiki crew helped me to still have a great time! Contiki's Gasthof Schoneck was beautiful, the food was delicious (I have a special diet so the chefs always accommodated for me) and the add-ons were so much fun! I would definitely recommend this trip and I'm hoping to come back and actually enjoy the slopes.

A little pricey, but a good experience

Sadly some of the activities that had attracted me to the trip in the first place were not running due to it being the end of the season (bobsleigh and tobogganing). I do appreciate that this was out of the Contiki staff’s control, however I would’ve appreciated some sort of alternative being offered, as not everyone was ONLY there to ski/snowboard, some people were there for the overall Austrian winter sports experience. The only thing that really tainted the trip for me was the actions of the trip manager on the journey back to the UK. Everyone was in quite good spirits after a great week together, but she handled a situation quite aggressively which I thought was very unnecessary. A passenger attempted to bring a cup of tea on board the train after we had made a rest stop (it had been mentioned at the beginning of the initial journey to Austria, the week before, that hot drinks were not permitted - a strang rule that still remains unexplained). The trip manager snatched the hot drink out of the passengers hand and threw it straight into the bin. I think that this was completely uncalled for behaviour and very rude, especially as it had just been bought and was untouched. It really put a taint on my experience as for the remainder of the journey I feared the trip manager and did not feel comfortable in conversation with her. Had there been some sort of reminder at the beginning of the trip that hot drinks weren’t permitted, I think that this action would’ve been slightly more justified (although still the aggression was unnecessary). However I do find it strange the rules that she chose to enforce - there were passengers lying on the floor of the coach, not wearing seatbelts, blocking the pathway, yet someone was not allowed to bring on board a cup of tea half was through a 20 hour journey.

The trip was awesome, activities were all well organized!

Coach journey was fine and good value. It may be worth having a second official pick up point in Dover. I was delayed in reaching the pick up point in London, thereby missing the bus. However I was able to meet the bus at Dover. It should also be made very clear that the bus will not wait.

Had an absolutely phenomenal trip! The staff were super friendly and helpful, all the optionals were really fun too! I couldn't recommend it enough. I was really hesitant to book a Contiki because I'm not much into partying, but it turned out to be the best experience!! You're so close to the slopes and you can meet so many people who love the snow as much as you do.

Amazing staff made for a special week in the Alps!

This trip was very well priced and it was incredibly easy to deal with the contiki team to get all required documents in order. The only thing I would suggest is to have more options with the ski pass and to have the prices more explicit on the website. I really only wanted to snowboard for 4 days which I told the team a couple of times, however when we all went to get our passes they handed me the 6 day and told me they didn’t offer anything else. I only ended up snowboarding for 3 and a half days. Looking back I could have inquired more or gone through Hoptgarten directly, but I think some more choice would have made the trip absolutely perfect.

The purchasing process was simple and easy to follow.

A great week due to the unforgettable memories made! Very few blue runs so wouldn't recommend for first time ski/boarders - you have to travel 2hr round trip on gondolas to access villages with blue runs. Will try France next year. Staff knowledge on the resort was incredibly poor, one member of the team got us in severe danger through false information about accessing blue runs from the top of a mountain resulting in the police and mountain rangers getting involved since it was only black/red run access back down?!?

Great ski week, lots to do, friendly people

Initial trip reasonably priced however all the add ons over priced. Seemed just an opportunity to get more money out of travellers.
