I couldn’t have planned the trip better myself. It ticks off heaps of the must dos and has cool extra things you just couldn’t organise yourself like the farmer’s dinner in Salzburg. Our trip manager Bec was incredible - she was funny, knowledgeable and just an amazing person you always wanted to be around and hear more from.
Some of the third party providers are not maintaining the same standard as Contiki delivers and perhaps are taking advantage of a captive audience eg. 50 people paying 10 euro each for a one hour walking tour in Salzburg got given one guide with no mic. For 500 euro for one hours work and not bringing another guide with her it was then pretty cheeky for the guide to give us a lecture about how much Salzburg is struggling because of tourism and how she struggles to make ends meet. Some of the included dinners were also a bit disappointing- I agree dinner at the hotel is convenient, but if we’re only in a destination 2 nights it would be good for the dinner to be that country’s cuisine (like the included dinner in Berlin, which was great!), and the pizza restaurant at Rome did a pretty poor job on the pizzas.
Bags to coach was much later than I expected, usually 8 or 9ish. Because the time in each city is so short, my personal preference would have been to leave earlier to get more time at the destination.
Overall, an incredible trip that I would highly recommend. There’s so much included that it’s really good value for money and I don’t think I could do the same trip myself for the price. I feel like some places we did so well that I’m happy to tick them off my list, and others I can’t wait to go back to, which is exactly what I wanted from this trip.
