European Winter Magic

This was the fastest, most amazing 9 days of my life. We had a great group of people and an awesome tour leader, Lisa. Words can't describe the fun we had, and all the fantastic memories we made, do this tour, you won't regret it.

Fun and fast paced

I knew from the get go that this was a fast paced trip, but I didn't realize how much you feel like a pinball on this trip. It was a ton of fun, but don't expect to relax much.

One word: Unforgettable

I could go on and on forever about how awesome this tour was, but I don't want to ramble. In case you're on the fence about this: I read countless online reviews of different tour companies, since it is a big investment, and I read mixed reviews about Contiki. I will tell you, my trip was incredible. My tour guide was on top of her game and knew a LOT about European history and what to do in certain situations, etiquette, etc. (I'm from the USA). The people I met were amazing, I'll never forget them. Here's another thing I'll clear up: I was 26 when I went on the tour, I was worried i'd be surrounded by a bunch of immature 18 year olds. There were people spanning the entire Contiki age range from 18 right up to 35. If you're not a huge partier, don't worry. You can literally make this trip into whatever you want...if you want to club every night, you can. If you want to relax after a day of touring, you can do that too. We had pretty serious partiers, and we also had serious Christians if that tells you anything about the "party" level. You can do whatever you want, there's something for everyone. If you're a snob, and want only the fanciest food and hotels, maybe you should look at a different company. I was happy with the food and accommodations, but we had a few people on our tour who scoffed at some things. Not my style though...who spends that much time in the hotel anyway? To sum up: I haven't been paid by Contiki or anything, and I'd say GO FOR IT! This trip/company is awesome. I'm currently on here planning my next trip.

Absolutely Fantastic!

This tour is great for people that want to see a lot in a short period of time. I can't believe how much we managed to do in only 9 days! The optional activities were all excellent and decently priced, definitely worth doing the lot. After all you are there to see Europe! Accommodation is good, but to be honest you are so tired at the end of each day it doesn't matter as long as it's clean! Food was to die for!! Definitely try the pork knuckle in Munich :) I would definitely recommend doing this tour, you meet some incredible people along the way and see some amazing sites. Great for first time Contiki goers!

Great for first timers

I had a great time on this contiki. I was a bit leery, being my first contiki but it ended up being a life changing expirence. I was really shy and never really socialized much before this trip, and after the first day I had already made great friends and the other people on the trip made it so easy to come out and have an amazing time. Best birthday present I have ever bought myself, so I always encourage people to try Contiki. I did, and I'm glad I made that choice. Take the step, book a trip. you wont regret it! Trust me

The Most Incredible People on the Most Incredible Trip

First and foremost, plan on doing ALL of the optional ME Time activities. Contiki does a wonderful job of picking out experiences that are authentic to each area visited that also help support the local economy. There wasn't a single activity that I regret doing and I'm beyond thrilled I participated in everything. It's a great way to bond with the rest of the travelers on the trip too. Be prepared for this tour, it's a fast-paced trip. Be sure to take advantage of every second you spend in each city. Your tour guide will have tips and hints as to what to visit whether you're interested in shopping, food, architecture or museums. Our tour guide Nick was spot-on with every suggestion he made. The best recommendation was to go to the Suso Gelato place in Venice. HOLY MOLY BEST GELATO EVER CONSUMED!! Be sure to bring a bag that you can pack for one-night stays in some of the hotels. The place in Rhine Valley didn't have an elevator, so it was helpful to be able to pack a small bag to lug up the stairs. When you have free time in the cities, try to go off the beaten path to find more authentic food places. The prices tend to be more reasonable as well and you never know who you might run into. A friend and I met the sweetest children's fashion designer when we hopped off the beaten path in Paris. It was wonderful to hear her story and how she got to where she is in life. Bring a nice outfit or two. Everyone in our grouped dressed up to go to Le Moulin Rouge on our last night of the tour. It was weird seeing people outside of the normal jeans and jackets that night haha. I loved meeting all of the people in our tour group. We've stayed in touch since the trip (6 months ago at this point) and we're trying to plan a trip that we can all go on again! That truly is one of the greatest take aways from the Contiki trip, the invaluable and lasting friendships that were formed with people from all over the world. All and all, one helluva trip and can't wait for the next Contiki adventure!

Fantastic return to Europe!

Having been to Europe a few times already, I had read the reviews before I signed up for this trip and knew what I was getting myself into. When you sign up for a tour that goes to so many places in such a short time frame, you have to understand that you're going to be spending a lot of time on the bus. This wasn't typically a problem, however, as we mainly used that time to catch up on some sleep we had been missing from being out the night before. The food was mostly okay, the sites were fantastic, and the optionals were great, but what really made the trip exceptional was the people. I was a little nervous to travel alone, however I met so many people even on the first night and following days that it didn't make a difference at all. Kristin, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable about everywhere we went, and was always around to help you out if you needed her or had any questions. I ended up getting sick on our last stop and she personally took me to the pharmacy in paris and got the medicine I needed - so thank you Kristin :) (on that note, if you do get sick easily, it might be wise to pack some cold and flu pills in your bag before you go). I would definitely recommend doing the optional Moulin rouge in paris and the sex show in Amsterdam - though it does seem kind of costly, particularly the Moulin Rouge show, pretty much our entire group went to both and it was well worth it. I'd definitely recommend this trip to anyone who wants to have a taste of Europe, its great for deciding which places you want to come back to and explore in depth!

Eurotrip! Magic! :)

This was my first contiki tour and I will definitely be booking another one soon! First thing I was reluctant at first to do this alone but majority of everyone on this tour travelled alone or in couples , and such a mix of people it is so easy to make friends even on the 1st day ! Jon and Jonny, our tour guide and bus driver were amazing at making this trip unforgettable :D from hard partying in 'amsterdamage' as they called it, huge stein beers in the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, wet gondola rides in a very rainy Venice, beautiful scenic snowy mountains in Switzerland and touring the lovely city of Paris this trip had so much to offer in 9 days, hell it was tiring but so fun !:D Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a first taste of Europe ! Highlights - booze cruise accross the dam ! stop off in Innsbruck Austria Meal in Venice , lots of food, musician and limoncello! thanks contiki :D xxx

Fantastic.

This trip was absolutely phenomenal. This was my first trip outside of the United States and I was pretty apprehensive and nervous. I went with my boyfriend and best friend and none of us really knew what to expect. I loved that all the tedious details were taken care of for us, it was cool to just show up and enjoy it. Our flight was great and I really enjoyed the hotel accommodations. I wasn't really looking forward to spending so much time on a bus but I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it ended up being. The bus actually added something extra to the trip and I definitely looked forward to the long warm drives after exploring the cities in the cold all day. All the food and activities were amazing, and the other people in the tour group were as well. The best part of this trip was having all the security and care of the tour group, which was essentially a family and also having a huge amount of time to go on your own and experiance these places without a giant "tourist" sign over your head. Finally, our tour manager Jon and bus driver Szabi really made the trip worth while. They were incredibly cool, informative, and seriously dedicated to making our trip the best imaginable. I loved every minute of it, sad as hell it's over, and already planning the next one. Thanks Contiki!

Great people, great staff, great places but short days!

I had an amazing time on this trip. Our group was amazing, our tour manager was amazing, our driver was amazing, Europe is amazing! My only complaint is that in the winter you get less daylight and since you're trying to see so many countries in such a short time, you spend most day hours on the bus and have to explore the cities by night. Some cities are meant to be explored by night (Amsterdam, Paris etc) but some are not (like Munich). Having said that, it is cheaper and the lines to attractions are shorter and it is a special season to visit. Each city has Christmas markets and is decorated in lights. Its worth experiencing.

The Best trip ever! Life changing!!

Okay so its taken me 1 year to write this review. Ever since I finished this tour I have been planning the next one. If your looking for an awesome fast paced trip choose this one. I met so many amazing friends that I still keep in contact with today and actually planning to meet up with this Christmas. As for the trip there was so many beautiful sights and so many awesome parties. Every single night we just partied hard and everyday took in the sights while traveling to our next location and exploring once we got there. I recommend doing every extra me time activity and leave at least 1 week open at the end of the tour so you can keep the party going with the awesome guys and girls you will meet that are still around London or Paris or even Amsterdam(its not hard to get back). Even tho the tour is short you still make the best friends and its super sad to say goodbye at the end. Definitely no Regrets! and my next tour I do will be much longer as you never wanna leave! Happy travels people look forward to meeting you all on the next tour!! :)

Magical!

If you never been to Europe before this is the best introduction tour to everything you will want to experience. It gives you a taste of what Europe has to offer in a decent amount of time. Some say that a 10 day tour is too short, but it was the perfect amount of time for me as I couldn't take more than 2 weeks off from work. I would highly recommended this tour for first time travelers to this area who don't have their heart set on one specific country. Accommodations, transport, food, optionals and the Contiki crew exceeded my expectations 150%! Taking a Contiki tour really eliminates of the stresses of travel, they take care of all the stuff you don't want to deal with while on vacation so you can focus on having FUN! Plus you are traveling with 50 other like-minded people who want to have the same experience you do, so its very easy to make friends fast, so don't worry if you are traveling solo like I did. I just got back home and I am already planning where I want to go on my second Contiki. Trust me, if you book this tour or any other Contiki tour you will have "#noregrets". Also if you get Megs as your Tour Manager or OJ as your driver you are in for a real treat! I couldn't imagine doing this tour without these two! They were both AMAZING!!!

Mr. Saxobeat rocks!

It was an amazing trip. I have seen so many things in just 9 days and everyday was filled with such great memories. All the hotels but one, were excellent and we were given a fair warning that most of the hotels in Europe are very basic so I didn't expect too much. It would be nice if WiFi was free in each hotel especially for those who has their smartphones locked to their carrier just like mine. We have a lot of optional tours and some optional tours weren't even mentioned on the itinerary which was a pleasant surprise and it's worth doing. It's not everyday that you can visit Europe so take advantage of the optional tours. Our driver and our tour manager were awesome. They were very informative, approachable and fun to be with. Mr. Saxobeat was our pick-me-up song in the morning and now I can just associate that song to the good times we had. I have never tasted any pizza better than the one we ate in Italy. My group was awesome and I'll never forget them. The best moment was when our driver double parked in the busy street of Paris where you can see the Eiffel tower and we watched the Eiffel tower's light show. I highly recommend this tour especially for those who haven't been to Europe. It's just magical!

Tour Review

This trip was incredible. The best vacation I've ever taken! It is incredibly fast paced though! Most days, when you get to the hotel, you only have 30-45min to shower and change before its time to go to dinner, or get on the bus to go into the city, etc. People stay out late almost every night and the bus leaves early almost everyday so make sure you have plenty of time to rest before and after this trip! It was incredible how much sight-seeing, culture experiencing, and just fun things we could squeeze into 11 days. The people were amazing! It seemed like everyone in the group was outgoing and friendly and talkative. It was really easy to find someone to do whatever you felt like doing in the city or at night. The tour guides had great suggestions and advice. They kept the bus rides from being too long with games and rest stops. It was very well organized. I don't have a single complaint!!
