Simply incredible, this ancient Roman town is packed full of ruins, and stories galore. Keep an eye out for the two story library, (yes, the ancient people were ahead of the times even way back when).

Patmos

Out of Kusadasi we drift on towards the rugged island of Patmos, quaint, known for it's seafood, we'll tell you straight up that the octopus is some of the best you'll ever try. Explore this holy hotspot with an optional excursion to Patmos’ UNESCO World Heritage sites of the 11th century Monastery of the Apocalypse and the Grotto of St. John. A must when you're in the area, dating back to 1088 as a protection from pirates! St John's Grotto is up next where part of the bible was written by St John himself. Nothing like a bit of history to keep things interesting. Back on the boat, a sundowner is calling, and maybe some of the ship nightlife before we wake up in Rhodes.

DAY 12 - Patmos to Rhodes
Patmos

Today we take to the mixed bag of Rhodes, influenced by its edging on Europe, Africa and Asia. Crete

Some may say we've saved the best 'til last, with Crete and Santorini marking our final full day. Crete is the biggest of the Greek Islands & home to the 4000 year old mythical Minoan Palace. Catch some sleep or explore it all morning with the option of exploring the Place of Knossos. As a quick 101, it's the home to the legend of the Minotaur, a half man half bull which lived in a labyrinth and was slayed by Theseus. A great way to look into days gone by, and we're talking 2000BC. With this fast and furious morning ticked, we head off to our next paradise found.

Santorini

Get a belt handy - you're going to need to strap that jaw up off the floor as the island of Santorini slowly becomes a reality. Those iconic blue–domed, whitewashed churches are enough to bring a tear to the eye. Set on a caldera, or old volcano, Santorini is literally towering over the landscape. And the best way to get the sheer scale of it all is by boat, and lucky for you sweet traveller, we give you the chance to do just that! Make sure your phone is on full charge, as an Instagram upload is a must tonight.

DAY 14 - Santorini to Athens
Santorini
After breakfast it's hugs, tears, and a final batch of reminiscing. It's astounding how close a group can get in just a few  short days. Nothing says bonding quite like the good life. The Croatia Island Hopper is probably the only way to really ease the pain of this goodbye. #NOREGRETS

Great Value for money! Good mix of activities and free time. A few of the hotels were questionable as they were too far out to do anything also I would skip some of the group dinners as they are way overpriced for what you get. Overall amazing trip with amazing people! The Amalfi Coast was just Beautiful

The trip was wonderful- from the group of people to the tour guide to the sights. My only critique is that the hotels and included meals need to be better. The hotels were out of the way and the one we stayed in Salerno was in a sketchy area. The rooms were tiny and one hotel didn’t even have WiFi. The only hotel that was nice was the one we stayed in Athens. I was not impressed by any of the ones in Italy. Also included meals need to have more than one food option for people who don’t like that choice. Other than those two areas, the trip was a blast. Romeo was an amazing tour guide and was full of information for us.

For what we received in terms of transportation and tour manager (Gennaro and Fabrizio Romeo) we had an excellent experience. The hotels were good except for the one hotel in Salerno, Italy that was not a great place to stay at because they were limiting us in letting us use the pool, the breakfast was not great and we could not even go to the rooftop bar and we did not expect to be staying at that hotel. We were told we would be staying in the town of Maiori. The price to tour and see what we saw is what will allow us to look into future Contiki trips.

This trip was incredible, I have no complaints! But do your research beforehand so that you know what to expect. The Mediterranean Escape was a slower pace than most Contiki trips, giving 3 days in Rome, 3 days on the Amalfi Coast and 2 nights in Athens (as well as 1 overnight ferry trip). The cruise on the other hand hit many different places and didn't allow for much time on any of them, sometimes doing 2 islands in one day. This portion was more like highlights of the Greek islands instead of an in depth exploration. My one piece of advice is to spend the extra money to book a cabin with a window - it's absolutely worth it.
