I felt that this trip was mainly a marketing excercise bc it was the first munch trip; and where I believe contiki invited the wrong 'influencers' who negatively impacted the trip experience for myself and the other genuine paying travellers.
Some of these American influencers were very negative, critising almost every aspect of the trip and loudly saying how they believed the inclusions food and activities were **** and ****, even though we may have thought it was good. They made us feel like our taste and our opinion on the trip was not correct or valid. The influencers sharing that they were invited for free on the trip, and that we, the paying customers probably paid for their spot was not welcome information. I understand and saw that their instagram posts and blogs were gorgeous and heaped mountains of flowery words on promoting the trip, but in real life, on the tour with them, these girls pushed around their food and was only interested in self promotions and taking pictures of themselves.
My suggestion on how contiki can improve this marketing excercise in the future, would be to have the influencers not tell everyone that their on the trip for free, ask influencers not to take photos of paying customers without their permission and posting to Snapchat. Bc they did and I did not appreciate a picture of me sleeping on the bus going around their 1000s of follwers. Luckily I'm not a suing for stupid things sort of girl.
On the whole I enjoyed the trip, 7/10 for service and exclusions. I would have enjoyed the trip a lot more if there was afew more classes/included/optional such as a pasta class or a pastry class. And also if I didn't have influencers tainting my experiences, and getting in the way of my food because they need to take a million photos and let the dish get cold before we can pass it around to serve ourselves!!
