A LOCAL'S NEIGHBOURHOOD

–  guide to

THE 04, AUSTIN

With 160 people moving to Austin every single day, it's fair to say this city is changing... all with the exception of The 04. For whilst this part of town may be located just a stone's throw from Sixth Street, this is old school Austin at its very best.

PATIKA COFFEE

"This our favourite spot for coffee. It has a really beautiful design and it's just up the street from our store."

2159 S LAMAR BLVD

Where do the in-the-know South Austin locals get their coffee fix? Right here.

Starting out (as all the greats do) in a little coffee cart in Downtown Austin, Patika has evolved into what it is today - a community loved hot spot with an awesome aesthetic, staff you want to be best friends with and, oh yeah, arguably the best coffee in town.

Their craft beers, boutique wines and utterly moreish homemade baked goods also make it a great hang out any time of day, JFYI.

LICK HONEST ICE CREAMS

"There’s something about a couple scoops of icecream on a waffle cone that makes people smile and makes them happy, even if just for a moment or two.”

1100 S LAMAR BLVD

Of course a quick pit stop at Lick is utterly necessary, if just to experience how real, honest, perfect ice cream is made.

The boys deal is basically this: EVERYTHING has to be locally sourced. If it ain't from a local business, it ain't gonna make the scoop. It's honest by name, and honest by nature; every sauce, syrup, cake or marshmallow is a homemade, hand created recipe.

Flavours are both everyday (caramel salt lick), and seasonal (lemon poppy seed thyme), and you'll be seriously hard pressed to find a flavour contender anywhere else in Texas.

BARTON SPRINGS POOLS

"Austin has so many great natural outdoor spaces to hang out in. This is part of The Greenbelt which runs for miles, we love to hang out here."

2201 BARTON SPRINGS RD

When Austin heats up, there's only one place to go - Barton Springs Pool.

But this isn't just any old pool; Barton Springs is a three acre, underground springs fed mini oasis that is open for swimming all year round, thanks to its average temperature of between 68-70 degrees (F).

Come for a dip, stay for a picnic, and start up a conversation with a stranger - this place is pretty much THE Austin hangout for every walk of society.

LADY BIRD LAKE

"Going for a run at Lady Bird Lake is my favourite thing to do. Everyone is always happy!"

ACCESS FROM W RIVERSIDE DR

A beautiful name for a beautiful place.

Lady Bird Lake is a reservoir that easily claims the title of best views of the city. It's here the locals head when they want to run, play, explore, or generally spend time outside. The surrounding pathways go on for miles, so whether you're a two footer or a two wheeler, it really doesn't matter.

Want to get out on the water? Hire a kayak and spend the golden hour watching the fishermen patiently waiting for their catch.
