FOOD CART TOUR

"Food carts are everywhere in NYC - this tour is run by really passionate locals who not only pick out the best carts and cuisines to try (which can be hard to spot on your own) but also give you an insight into this whole world and the people and stories behind them."

60 WALL STREET

When you think of New York, what springs to mind? Most likely it involves food, am I right?

Arguably no city in the world has a foodie offering as diverse as the Big Apple, and this food cart tour gives you a taste (literally) of it all. Spanning two hours as you walk through Manhattan's Financial District, expect to taste everything from Korean short ribs, to Bengali kati rolls, Mexican quesadillas, Belgian waffles, and more.

The starting point for this tour is downtown, and come hungry.

This food cart tour is a ME Time Optional on Contiki trips in New York.

FERRY TO WILLIAMSBURG

"This is my pick for the best photo opp vantage point of the city skyline plus the Brooklyn Bridge, and it's also right near my favourite ice cream shop Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory which is in a cool building that was originally a lighthouse."

PIER 11, SOUTH STREET

That iconic Manhattan skyline looks good from any angle, but especially from the water.

Only a little bit pricier than the subway but 10,000 times more enjoyable, free up your camera storage space as you'll be getting ultra snap happy shooting the likes of the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, the World Trade Centre...I mean, shall I go on?!

You get it, this is all about the views, and a cheap way to experience NYC from the water.

MURAL ART TOUR

“Hip-hop originated in the Bronx, however Brooklyn contributed immensely to the culture. Both Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z grew up near this location. Very few areas left in NYC offer such an abundance of Graph Mural art. Industry hood is one of the few left and survived the developmental change in Brooklyn.”

SEIGEL AND BOGART STREETS

NY may be a hotbed for museums and galleries, but it's the streets where the real action (and art) takes place.

Make your way to Bogart street within the uber trendy Bushwick neighborhood, and you're in instant street art utopia. Every style is represented here, from murals, to tags, to stencils, and it only gets better as you head to Seigel street, where a full block long concrete canvas of colour awaits you.

Oh, and the best part? Open air galleries = totally free!

ROBERTA'S PIZZA

“Roberta's has a really authentic local vibe. The menu changes during the day - my best recommendation would be the Four Emperors for lunch or the El Supremo for dinner.”

261 MOORE STREET
Rooftop garden harvesting home grown produce? Check. Their own radio station talking nothin' but food? Check. The most hyped, and yet definitely the best pizza in Williamsburg? Check.

This is Roberta's; the place with a huge reputation, and a crowd that is 99.9% hill billy hipster. But unlike other hipster joints, walking in here won't make you feel out of place, it will make you feel hungry. And that's a good thing, as the pizza is good. Really good.

Oh, and if you're not full up on pizza after visiting, pop into the bakery and pick yourself up a little sweet pastry desert.

LA MILAGROSA SPEAKEASY & LOOSIE'S KITCHEN

"I'm friends with the owner and chef here - it's got the best fried chicken in town!"

149 HAVEMEYER ST & 91 SOUTH 6TH STREET

Want to end your day in pretty much the most Williamsburg way possible?

Start the evening off with a tequila craft cocktail in secret speak easy bar, La Milagrosa. Just slip through the freezer door on the back wall of this unassuming looking deli and step into a vintage Mexican inspired hipster haven complete with retro jukebox.

Then, head across the street to Loosie's Kitchen. Here chefs, artists, musicians and locals alike come together for colourful conversation, exquisite Southern inspired food, pop-up events, musical performances, and to share in that quintessential Williamsburg vibe. How can it get better? Maybe by the fact that live hip-hop MC's keep the front bar, Loosie's Rouge, bouncing till the wee hours.
