NO REGRETS INCLUSIONS
Drive through the American Midwest's beautiful farmlands
Enjoy an evening in Madison, home to the University of Wisconsin
Tour a Brewery
Milwaukee

Next stop: Milwaukee. It’s home to the nation’s largest beer brewers and also Harley Davidson.

Madison

Later on we pull into the town of Madison, know for it’s friendly college vibes. If you’re up for a night out, grab a few buddies and hang out as the students do on the popular State Street, where the taverns, local specialty breweries, comedy clubs and bars will have you spoilt for choice.

DAY 2 - Madison to Sioux Falls
Madison

Cross the Midwest and see the pretty as a picture Minnesota farmlands before hitting the wild yet wonderful state of South Dakota.

NO REGRETS INCLUSIONS
See the fascinating lunar landscape with its colourful buttes, pinnacles & spires
Visit the Spam Museum
Sioux Falls

We travel across the county’s biggest prairies and enter a region once dominated by the Sioux Tribes – the only Native American Nation to defeat the US army. You’ll learn the background of the city’s name (and maybe even learn how to pronounce it properly) and also visit the SPAM Museum, yes travellers you read that right. Think weird, wacky and most definitely spammy.

DAY 3 - Sioux Falls to Mt. Rushmore via Badlands National Park
Sioux Falls

After learning about Sioux Falls (Sioux is the name of a native American tribe we'll have you know) and seeing the beautiful landscapes, it is time to move on to Mt. Rushmore, but not without a stop off at Badlands National Park on the way.

Badlands National Park

An interesting name, and an even more interesting place. You will notice the amazing natural sites of South Dakota go by as we journey through Badlands National Park, past a surreal, lunar landscape of rugged-edged cliffs, sharp spires and crevices. We'll stop off here for a leisurely walk along the Fossil Trail.

Mt. Rushmore

It is here we stay for the night, where the excitement really builds in the group, because tomorrow we see the incredible carvings of four past Presidents' faces etched into the mountainside. It's time to really start making every single moment count with the crew who by now will be feeling like family.

DAY 4 - Mt Rushmore
Mt. Rushmore
It's a crazy concept but yes, there are 18m (60ft) faces of Presidents, Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington and Roosevelt carved into the side of a stony mountain. It is quite surreal to see it in such natural surrounds, especially knowing that it took 14 long years to create this work of art. You'll also be blown away by the massive 563 feet tall monument of the famous Sioux warrior, Crazy Horse, currently a work in progress being gradually carved out of a mountain. What else is in store today? Custer State Park, where you can get some good old MN (mumma nature) time, or get on 4 wheels for a jeep safari through the park.

See the Incredible wildlife in Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park
Nature works in very mysterious ways sometimes. Yellowstone National Park is the incredible result of a massive volcanic eruption, and what a sight it is. The scenery is like something out of a film, and if you are lucky (and super quiet) you might even get to experience the wildlife too - this area known for grizzly bears, buffalos and wolves. We'll stop to visit the glorious Old Faithful geyser, the most famous in the world, and with erruptions on the regular it's a must to have the camera at the ready.

DAY 7 - Cody to Teton Valley via Yellowstone National Park
Cody
After a chilled night in the peaceful surrounds of Cody, we hop back on the coach and head onto Jackson Hole, but not before stopping off at two National Parks.

Grand Teton National Park
Yellowstone National Park
Thought you'd seen it all? Yellowstone, we're not finished with you yet. It's back to the park for a last minute nature hit at West Thumb geyser basin, a brilliantly blue basin of steaming lakes, and a sight that will give you goosebumps at just how incredible our planet really is.

Teton Valley
Yet another wonder that will have you praising Mother Nature, the famous ski resort of Jackson Hole is full of wildlife and postcard like vistas, backed by the Teton Mountain range. This cute western town turns on the charm, with the option to spend your evening on horseback followed by a smokey and delicious cookout.

DAY 8 - Teton Valley to Salt Lake City
Teton Valley
It's back on the coach this morning with wide eyes as we travel through the stunning mountain ranges of Idaho and onto Salt Lake City, but not before thrill seekers could take to the Snake River for some rafting to really awaken the body and mind.

Bryce Canyon National Park
You've probably seen it on Pinterest, and today Bryce Canyon is yours for the taking. OMG's and 'ohhh and ahhh' will be the words of the day today, as you throw on your comfy walking shoes and ake on the Navajo Loop Trail to see what's in store. With the landscape scattered as far as the eye can see with the areas famous 'hoodoos', or tall, thin spires of rock, this is like something out of a movie. Ranging from 1.5 to 45 massive metres these are jawdropping, and as you breathe in the clean pine filled air, you'll be left pondering just how good life is. With plenty of photo stops, this is truly a no regrets moment.
Kanab

The northern adventure was a great tester of so many place, it includes a great over view of some national parks and cities/towns that it makes you want to plan a holiday to go visit for longer. The time frame for each place was appropriate I did not feel rushed except for Jackson Hole which is incredible and definitely needs 2 nights!

Everyone I talked to over the phone from contiki were fabulous and provided in-depth information and efficient service, they were very fast in getting back to me and getting things done. Once I was on my contiki trip my tour manager Emma and my bus driver Jeff were two of the most lively and bubbly people ever, they were always so enthusiastic about everything and if we ever needed help they were there, they went above and beyond.

Purchasing this tour I thought was a great option as it showed more than the attractions that the entire world go to. It showed true America in the perfect light. Over the 14 days I saw Bryce National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Custer State Park, Red Canyon, Zion National Park and Mojave Desert. All these places and so much more which was a great spend I believe, however I did wish that there would be more inclusions in the price and a lot of the meals I needed to purchase and there were a hell of a lot of ME Times which I did which I felt could be included to make the trip that much better. Overall though there was two thing I didn't agree with and that is the included dinner while staying in Cody. This was false advertising as the included dinner was just $15.00 been given back to us to spend wherever. This practically meant you were giving back our money that we gave you and saying that you just go out and spend the money you gave us. It was also a kick in the face as it costs double that for a normal dinner meal, it would be okay if this money was for lunch but for dinner that was just disgusting. The other issue was some of the hotels we stayed at were absolutely disgusting and I believe you should look at them. For example, Kanab, was ran by a 10 year old boy, the rooms weren't even ready when we arrived (which meant 5 of us girls had to get ready in the smallest motel room known to man) and the rooms were really really dirty. This was a disgusting room to stay at and Contiki should really assess this as it is not a place I would want my company associated with. Besides these two points I did think I spent my money well and the ME Time optionals were great however once again with these I wasn't happy that I spent $10 for a wedding that not all of us were actually involved in. This would of been great for the two involved but for everyone else not so much.

It was an excellent trip that covered a lot of the key sites I wanted to experience along the area that we were travelling. It was great value for money from a solo travelers point of view, as everything is organised for them and if you were trying to do all the things we did on your own the expenses would be much higher. I think a small side note about tipping guides being extra should be included on the trip page on the website for when a customer is deciding on what tour to take, as that could be a factor in the decision for some people (tipping for a 55 day contiki could add up quite heavily, it would be nice to have expect that cost from the start). Overall, my trip was ****** brilliant!
