Hi everyone, I have been reading all these discussions regarding dress codes in clubs etc for females, saying jeans and tops are fine and acceptable in most places…can anyone offer information on the dress codes for males in clubs/pubs/bars etc? Are jeans and t-shirts acceptable at most places, or do you need dressier pants and a button – up shirt (please say no!). Also…shoes, what sort of shoes are acceptable? can you get away with slip-ons or skate shoes…and are thongs allowed in pubs and bars?
Cheers everyone…I lok forward to receiving your advice!

Hi,
Just wondering how much free time we will get in each city? Do we have to stay together as a group or can we wander off and do our own thing? Obviously this will be dependant upon a number of things but I have come accross some places (in Munich for example) I’m really hoping to see that aren’t listed on the itinerary.
Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

How far is Imperial to Royal National Hotel? Which is the best hotel to stay in? Do tours depart from Imperial too. Also is it easy to get to Royal national from Imperial?

Obviously with Europe, there are many countries visited during a tour. What normally happens with a bus load of people crossing over a border. What is the process like?
Excuse the naivity on this one, me being surrounded by ocean down here and all ![]()

Hi Guys,
I’m Anthony, 29, single male from England UK. I have always wanted to tour Australia despite tackling the long 22 hour flight from London.
I am new to Contiki and would like to have some advice. What are the best Aussie tours would you recommend? I am very much into city sight seeing but also like to have some adventure in as well.
What are the tours like e.g numbers, nationalities, single travellers, travel and accommodation. I had a look on the website and it looks very good. I am planning to go on travels around September time and want to start in Sydney. So any tips, advice would be more than appreciated, thanks for your time.

Hi everyone ![]()
Last week I was diagnosed as having an intolerence to gluten so now I need to follow a gluten free diet to remain healthy.
I’m guessing that this is something that I will need to let the airline and Contiki know about but has anyone else been in this situation?
My friend & I are booked to do the LA to the Bay trip in November. We’re also going to going to Disneyland and Universal Studios so right now I’m abit nervous about the food aspect.
Any help that you can provide would be great.

Hey, sorry if this is a well worn topic but I’m a solo traveller looking to do the winter wanderer tour a couple of months and have been going through a travel agency as I’m linking it up with some other travel. This is my first time using a tour company. At closer inspection of my itinary, my travel agent has gone ahead and requested me a single room on the tour, I didn’t say I wanted one, I’m a young guy and don’t mind sharing but I’m just wondering if having my own room might isolate me a bit for the group if you know what I mean? What’s the done thing in general for solo travellers? Do many guys opt for a single room or is it something I should consider trying to get changed?
Thanks a lot

As many of you are probably aware of, especially if you watch the news, Greece has declared a state of emergency since 89-fires have broken out burning mostly the Southern and Central Athens, and a few islands.
The Greek Embassy is stating it is likely acts of terrorism and individuals who are starting it and they are offering a $1M Euros reward for information leading to the arrests and capture of these people!
Contiki will not refund our money for this trip for the $2k b/c it is not a covered event for a medical reason for the Contiki insurance policy, which also has to be made at least 48-hours in advance, but these fires did not break out that soon in advance.
I cannot throw away $3000 on my air plane ticket and the trip itself and this seems very dangerous, and they do not seem very concerned about our safety!
We need other persons to get in on this and be aware of what is going on! PLEASE WRITE BACK!!!

I’m confused….
http://www.operaduomo.firenze.it/english/opera/orari.asp?
I thought the Duomo was just the church itself, but the link above makes me believe that it’s divided into several sections? (Cathedral of S. Maria del Fiore, Dome, Santa Reparata – archaeological site, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Baptistry of S. Giovanni, Museo dell’Opera di S. Maria del Fiore, Church of S. Benedetto)
I’m confused. Can anyone explain this a little better than what I’m finding on the internet?

Hey,
I am travelling to NYC in Dec 07/Jan 08 for 6-8 wks. Does anyone have any idea whether you can rent a loft/studio for not too much money over this period? I wanted to save money by cooking in the room rather than going out for every meal. Also, do u think I will get any snow while I am there or does that not usually happen until Feb?
Cheers,

Hi, I’m going on Simply Italy next week and wanted to email the Hotel Regent Rome to see if it is ok to check in my lugage with them as I arrive really early in the morning and it would be quite awkward to have to drag my lugage around until the official check in time. However.. I cannot seem to find an email address on there website to contact them. Has anyone been in this situation that can give some advice?

Hey everyone! I’ve heard some horror stories about some LA areas and also would just like to have a break from hostels and backpackers during my upcoming big adventure and since LA is the last leg of my trip, I would like to book an actual hotel hotel (limit per night $200US), but am so unsure about locations. I’d like to be not too extremely far from Disneyland, but I also don’t want to be close to Disneyland but ages and ages from anywhere else as I will be staying 5 days and only be going to Disneyland for one of those days. I plan to do some shopping and typical celebrity like tourist tours, and would love to visit UCLA and perhaps the Staples Centre and or Dodger Stadium.
I guess my main question is what area is kind of in between all these places and not too dodgy? Downtown? West Hollywood? Or should I just stick with staying in Santa Monica or Anaheim and pay staggering amounts for taxis and shuttle services? (I will NOT be hiring a car during anytime of this trip)
I am considering this hotel:
http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll…pv/htid=894101
It seems close to everything and seems nice enough and I’d be prepared to pay that. The lines “Public bus transportation and limited Metro Rail service are available. Taxis are available but expensive” and “Public transportation is available for $2.50 one-way, but takes about two hours. For exploration beyond the immediate hotel area, a rental car is the best option” worry me a bit, but I get by now after all the research I’ve done that nothing seems close together in LA.
Or also this one:
http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll…spv/htid=27297
As it seems close to lots of things, even though it’s a bit more than I wanted to pay.
But I’d be super grateful for any advice anyone has for me on this topic! Even recommendations of places you have stayed yourselves!
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I am doing the Great Britain & Ireland tour in August and it will be in Edinburgh when the tattoo is on, i am just wondering
1. if people on tour go to this (sounds like a silly question)
2. Do people buy tickets before leaving australia
3. Do contiki have a bit of a deal and maybe able to buy them in Edinburgh when we get there
any info would be great, because i would probably like to go but i guess depending on how far away from the hotel it is and how much free time
thanks
