Hi,
i figure people travelling in june/july etc are starting to think about the clothes situation as i am so thought i’d create a thread for everyone to discuss/ask questions and keep it all in the one thread.
Can anyone give me some input on the below clothes. I’ll be away for 5 and a half weeks and my tour goes for 4 weeks (25 days).
2 pairs jeans (1 for daytime, 1 for going out)
1 pair brown pants (for going out, optionals)
2 pairs 3/4 pants (1 black, 1 grey)
1 or maybe 2 skirts
1 dress
6 ‘going out tops’
14 (about) tank tops/singlets for day time
2 jackets
Does this amount seem about right?

Hi all,
Am intending to go on the European Discovery in December of 2009. Just curious as to whether the tourist/souvenir shops will still have a wide range at this time? It will be my first time overseas so I am really keen to bring back a lot to make everyone at home jealous hehe.
Thanks ![]()

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has stayed at BASE Auckland Central Backpackers before, or knows of someone who has. Is it good? Central to the city? What transport did you take from the air port and how much did it cost?

hi everyone!
i’ve been reading old posts about voltages and making sure you dont blow stuff up.
i just bought a new camera that has a li-lon battery 3.7v. is this safe to plug in or do i need something to protect it?
i could handle stuffing up a hand dryer but couldn’t cope losing my camera!!!

Hey all!
I am heading overseas on December 28 for the European Ispiration tour and I am freaking out about what to take for clothing.
I have been told once you are inside any of the buildings it gets boiling hot, but I still get cold pretty easily hahaha
I have a plain black ski jacket which just looks like a big hoody and thermels…is there anything else in particularly I should be taking?
Also, when you go out at night, what are you supposed to wear? (such a girly question I know!)
Thanks for your help! :-)

Hi there,
will stay 12 days in Italy.
I have noticed: “you are required to report your presence on Italian territory to the local Central Police Station of the provice in which you are staying within 8 working days from the date of entry and apply for a residence permit”?
Does any one know anything about it? Does tour manager organise it for us?
cheers!

Hi,
(with 1 week to go i realised i’d better make sure i know what to do when arriving)
Q. is the heathrow tube station still under construction? (if so, there’s just a shuttle bus or something to the next station? what do you do/where to go?)
(if not, just tube piccadilly line north to rus square right?)
also i arrive 6am the day before my tour.
that day i’d do the original/red bus tour i guess?
and then i’ve got 5 days in london after my tour..
should i get a london pass, or just a tube pass? would the bus tour already have included most stuff that the london pass will include?
are these both just available from the contiki basement?
does the tube/london pass include trips if i want to go for a day out of london, south or wherever?
also does the contiki basement sell london guide books? is it better to but a book before (like the éyewitness’books) or just wait til i get there?
a few questions i know.
Any advice greatley appreciated!!

is it typical/safe/a good idea for travellers to bring camcorders/digital video recorders on a trip to NZ? or would it be another expensive thing to keep track of/worry about? i want to document as much of my trip as possible, will a point and shoot camera be enough?

I am thinking about doing the Eastern Road trip in May or early june 08, just wondering from any one else who has done it if its worth finishing in Warsaw or getting the bus back to berlin to finish – and where abouts in Berlin does the bus drop you off at?

I am really interested in both of these tours. I will be going on one or the other. Both have many cities i would like to see for the first time and others that i have been wanting to revisit ever since i went last summer. The contrasts goes through Vienna, Prague and Greece. Which are on my list of places to see. However, it does not go through Spain; which is also on my list. The adventurer goes through spain but not Prague. What a delimma. I think i will be doing more traveling after the tour b4 returning home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()

anyone know the difference between these two shows and if Euro Discovery does only Nouvelle Eve? some of the posts/travelogue says Moulin Rouge, which is my preferred show.

Hi, for anyone who has been on this tour …
Did you find that you had enough time in Athens? I read somewhere on this website that 1 day is enough to see all of Athens.
My travel agent suggested I book an extra hotel night in Athens after the tour because I would have to leave the hotel in the middle of the night (1am) to catch a 4am flight even though that hotel night is included in the tour. I’m thinking that even if I book another hotel night, I’d still have to leave at 4am that next day anyways …
So I’m wondering if another day spent in Athens is worth the cost of a hotel ($189) or whether that would be a waste of money and I would have already spent enough time in Athens during the actual tour?
Thanks in advance.

Im going on the European contrasts tour for June and i was wondering what the humidity and heat was like of an evening/night?
Has anyone had trouble sleeping because of a warm night or does it cool down in Europe when the sun sets?
