clear searchThe best time to visit Peru depends on where you’re heading. For Machu Picchu and the Andes, the dry season (May-Sept) is perfect. For coastal Peru trips, Dec-March will bring sunny skies and warm Lima weather.
January and February are generally the hottest months, with Lima temperatures reaching around 26°C (79°F) and jungle regions soaring even higher. If you’re here for warm, tropical Peru weather, this is your time.
July tends to be the chilliest month. In Cusco weather, nights can dip close to 0°C (32°F), while coastal Lima stays mild at around 15°C (59°F). You can expect frost in high-altitude spots like Salkantay.
The rainy season in Peru runs from November to March, especially in the Andes and Amazon. Expect afternoon downpours, gorgeous green scenery and fewer crowds to boot. If you don’t mind mud, it’s still more than magical.
It sure does, but only at high altitudes. Cusco weather rarely brings snow, but peaks in the Andes do. You might see snow if you’re trekking around Salkantay or Ausangate, so you’ll want to pack accordingly if you’re heading up high.
Peru’s summer runs from December to March. Along the coast, Lima is sunny and warm – ideal for blissful beach days. In the Andes, it coincides with the wet season, so afternoon rain may be on the cards.
Winter falls from June to September. On the coast it’s mild and grey, while the Andes and Cusco are cool but dry – perfect for exploring Machu Picchu. The Peru climate at this time is generally best for hiking.
