Can you take them on in your carry-on luggage? I am totally paranoid about losing my luggage, therefore i want all my essentials wuith my in my carry on luggage.
But because i has a cord, and pointy plug in metal bits, is it allowed on the plane? The last thing i want to do in london is find out my luggage is lost, and then not have a camera battery charger

hey guys…im planning to stay at the generator hostel next month…but im hearing mixed reviews for it! is anyone else staying there around may-June or has anyone that stayed there..?? id love to hear anyone’s opinions on it!

hey guys!! i’ve booked myself a tour!! quiet scared now!! its the european inspiration tour that starts on the 21st Decemeber 2007, staying in London one night before and then 2 nights after or ill add some more on if i love it!! anyone going on this trip?? even tho its in ages!!! ill be 20 years old and i’m female!! I can’t wait to see europe! should be a blast. well hit me back with any advice or if your interested in goin coz id love to make lots of friends!! i’m from Melbourne, Australia!!!

Hello all. Just did the Golden Fleece from May 31 to June 8th 2007. Was a great experience being first time on a cruise.
My recommendations. If u never done a cruise before. This trip is a good way to do one as its a good rate for the budget and the excursions are really really great.
The ship you go on is kinda smallish but good, has a dining room, all u can eat buffets. A lounge, gym and a few bars. For 100 euros u get all u can drink package. The food on the ship was awesome. The service was good i would say.
For excursions. This is what to expect, if u never done a cruise but u done bus tours. The time u get on each shore is very limited. However u get a taste of everything. U get a lot of time in Istanbul but no free time. Its recommended u do the excursions as u get more time in each destination and best way to see everything. Do think by not doing an excursion your saving yourself some $$$. The Santorini excursion u must do. IF you dont do the excursion and decide to go on your own. U will be last to get off the ship and u will only end up with an hour on Santorini. For the other islands. ITs up to u what u want to see. For Mykonos, do the town then go to paradise beach. For Rhodes. spend some time on Elli beach and do the excursion as well.
Overall this was a great trip. Good way to relax and your already near your cabin and u can sleep and travel if u like. If anyone has more questions about the golden fleece. The name is worldtraveller and u can email me at

Hi,
What happens if your luggage is over the weight limit? Do they charge you for the extra-weight? Do you have to reorganize you stuff right there? Do you leave your stuff behind? What happens, what do you do if that happens?
Do they also weight any smaller bags, or backpack that you take, like purses with money, ipod, documents… ?

Looking for anyone else on the European contrasts tour leaving in june 2007 – hopefully june 13.. i just booked my trip yesterday!

im looking at going on the best of usa tour and fitting in a hawaiian stopover at the beginning. i was also thinking of having a few days before the tour starts and afterwards. how many people have done this? i was just thinking as i would be traveling alone and how safe it would be.

i will be joinin the contiki european magic in Nov.
Arriving in London, leaving from Paris airport.Will also be passin thru (Belgium (in transit), Netherlands, Germany, Austria (in transit), Italy, Switzerland, France)
Any idea if i can claim VAT on purchases bought from London ?
Among the countries that i will be visiting, which one has the highest VAT claim for tourist?

This is my first post so be nice.
Just wondering if anyone has been along to any of the travel expo’s at Adelaide, Sydney or Gold Coast. Planning on doing the European Encounter late May/early June and not sure whether I should just book at the travel agent or go have a look at the expo. Any advice on whether you believe it is worthwhile going down to the expo in regards to sales and savings for flights and contiki trips either individually or as a package would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve heard some bad reviews on this hotel from tripadvisor.com.
One person swears they caught ‘scabies’ from the hotel. Another says the staff were very unhelpful. And another said that the hotel doesn’t have air con and when you leave the window open you get the noise of London all night..
I’m honestly not fussed, I’ve already booked. I’m just wondering if anyone had a bad experience?? Or if any one has some survival tips?

Just wondering if anyone out there can give me some info on the California Highlights tour.
1. When is the best day/night to go to Alcatraz when in San Francisco? I would like most of the optional (sunset sail, bike ride across the bridge, chinatown dinner, wine country) so does that still leave me time to see alcatraz?
2. Are you able to do both optional extras in LA (movie stars homes tour and behind the scenes tour) or do you have to pick one??

im possibly going on the vietnam highlights trip starting 9 june after it i will have 5 days before my flight back home from bangkok.
is it worthwhile visiting either Laos or Cambodia for 5 days.
if so what country would be better?
also how long would you recommend in Laos if i wanted to see Vientiane,Luang Prabang & Vang Vieng

Hello all!
My roommate and I are considering going on the Mykonos and Island cruising but am hesitant to go on it because they do not mention the size of the ship. What is the cruise/ship like? We are skeptical about the sleeping arrangements. What are the hotel(s) like on the island? We would love to know any info. regarding the accommodations!

Hi all,
I am really interested in travelling to the States by doing LA Scene, then the Grand Southern (LA-NY) and finishing off wiht the Big Apple Explorer. I’ll probably spend some extra days in LA and NY too…
The thing is, I really wanna go in Novemeber/December because I want to spend Christmas in New York. I’m just wondering if the entire trip will be a bit of a downer because the weather will be too cold. I want good weather in LA and Vegas and throughout the Grand Southern tour. Go swimming and nice sunny days, so will I get that if I travel on those months?

Hi All,
I am traveling on the 14 Day European Highlights Tour and as it’s a concept one where we will be in cabins and hostels, is it better to take a backpack or a suitcase. eg. was there easy access to the hostels and not just sand etc.
If people did take a suitcase on these trips was it hard to carry it around?
Thanks – oh and I am a girl so not strong 100% of the time.

It seems everyone has their heart set on living, and working in London before or after Contiki. Theres so many great advices.
But, I was wondering if anyone has great advice for living, and working after Contiki in other places such as; Athens, Greek islands, Paris, French Rivera and Rome.
Or if you know any fantastic websites that will make my choice much easier? I’ve got excellent experience in both bartendering, and retail.
Is anyone else considering the same ideas? 
Will there be plenty of jobs on offer? Or should I try a overseas working holiday?
I can’t find any useful information for OWH in Perth. Does anyone else?
